Finding their inspiration from the diverse city blocks and night club scene of Southern California, FM has built a strong internet fan base and a new lifestyle brand for the next generation of youth around the world. “The Far East Movement is the name for our music, lifestyle, and our party. For the diverse music fan that hits up 3 clubs in 1 night, tuned to the racing scene and fashion, and back on the computer religiously checking blogs and sites for anything related to that.”- FM
FM has embarked on 2 World Tours (including the USA, South America, Canada, Europe and Asia) and recently featured on the 35 city Party Rock Tour with LMFAO, signed distribution deals in Japan and Korea (Avex Network and JF Productions respectively), garnered multiple features on MTV World, and also featured music on worldwide media such as FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”, ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights, CBS Primetime shows “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY”, multiple placements on HBO’s “Entourage”, “Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift” and “Finishing the Game” (a featured film at Sundance 2007). They were close companions in high school and shared a passion for music together. The trio promoted their music online and began performing at local clubs and events in Los Angeles; soon, they began their musical career with the name "Emcee's Anonymous" by 2001. However, they later changed it to Far East Movement or FM, originating from a song that they produced with the same name. In 2003, they organized together an event called "Movementality" in Koreatown, LA, featuring ten different performances with all the proceeds sent to a local youth drug rehabilitation center. I saw you dancing on that speaker box, girl what's your name?
I see you texting on that B.B.M., can we exchange?
I got two glasses at my table, can I show you the way?
Tonight's the night to let it go, go, girl it's okay.
Yeah, I'm not looking for no strings, you're not looking for a ring
If you're ready for this fling, then meet me in the back.
I never knew it'd be like this, such an unexpected twist
Dear heart, I know I said I'd take it slow
I know I swore on everything I own
But I can't resist, how's just one kiss?
But don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone.
Don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone
Don't look now
I can't resist, how's just one kiss?
Don't look now.
My heart is pumping like that bass before I pick you up
The way we stole each others hearts we playing Stick em up
I take a shot of Ciroc to get me in the zone now
She took a step out the door, from head to toe she's all 'wow'
I'm not looking for no strings, you're not looking for a ring.
If you're ready for this fling, then meet me in the back.
I never knew it'd be like this, such an unexpected twist
Started off with just a kiss, I don't know how to act.
Hey, uh, I know I promised you I'd take it slow
I know I swore on everything I own
But I can't resist, how's just one kiss?
But don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone.
Don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone
Don't look now
I can't resist, how's just one kiss?
Don't look now.
Somethin' 'bout this girl
She shakin' up my world
She got me doin' things I never did before.
Damn, there's somethin' 'bout this girl
She shakin' up my world
She got me out my zone, I'm losin' all control.
Somethin' 'bout this girl
She shakin' up my world
She got me doin' things I never did before.
Damn, there's somethin' 'bout this girl
She shakin' up my world
She got me out my zone, I'm losin' all control.
Hey, uh, I know I promised you I'd take it slow
I know I swore on everything I own
But I can't resist, how's just one kiss?
But don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone.
Don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone
Don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone
Don't look now
You've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone
Don't look now.
The lyrics of Far East Movement's hit song "Don't Look Now" featuring Keri Hilson, detail the excitement and thrill of an unexpected romantic connection. The song captures the essence of a one-night stand, where the two partners meet without intentions of entering into anything serious. The opening lines of the song describe the female protagonist dancing on a speaker box and texting on a BlackBerry Messenger (B.B.M.). The male protagonist approaches her, asking for her name, and asks whether she would like to exchange numbers. He invites her to join him at his table and hints at their mutual intentions for a one-night fling.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the irresistible temptation that the male protagonist is feeling towards the female. The lyrics "Dear heart, I know I said I'd take it slow, I know I swore on everything I own, but I can't resist, how's just one kiss?" reveal his internal struggle with the choice he is making. However, he gives in to the moment and lets go of all inhibitions, as he sings "Don't look now, you've got me going, I'm going, I'm gone."
In the second verse, the male protagonist describes how his heart is racing before he picks up the female protagonist. He likens the experience to a robbery, where the two of them have stolen each other's hearts, playing "Stick em up." Again he reiterates that they're not looking for anything too serious, and their connection started with a kiss. The final verse repeats the chorus, emphasizing the singers' loss of control over what is happening.
Overall, "Don't Look Now" encapsulates the theme of romance as an impulse or momentary desire to express oneself without any strings attached.
