In 2012 the band won the contest "Som Para Todos", which included a concert at the Planeta Terra Festival in São Paulo and a distribution contract with Deckdisc.
According to keyboardist Chris Botarelli, the band's name does not mean anything special; it was a mere sugestion of vocalist Emily Barreto's mother that ended up pleasing the band members after they failed to reach an agreement.[2] At the same occasion, she also explained that the band don't see a problem at writing English lyrics since the public from Rio Grande do Norte (the band's home state) has been receiving it well.
In October 2012, the band released their first EP, Stereochrome, with four tracks. In may 2014, it was released their first album by Deckdisc, modeHuman, containing 15 tracks including four songs re-recorded from the EP.
In 2014, they played at the FIFA Fan Fest event in Natal, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Another Round
Far From Alaska Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You haven't failed until you quit
Trying to do your best
Breaking the wrist with the weight of the world
Easing the pain through a few loopholes
And to this day such damn thoughts only come at night
Like ten versus one I lose again another round
Ambition is not in vain
Gold armies march on the streets at dawn
As the empire rises mine's in downfall
I can't breathe once again
Walking the path as my head is held high
Clenching my fists, I'll wait for the fight
The lyrics of "Another Round" by Far From Alaska seem to express the feelings of someone who is struggling with their own limitations and the pressures of the world around them. The idea of "powers draining from the head" speaks to the exhaustion that often comes with trying to stay motivated and focused. The message that "you haven't failed until you quit trying to do your best" could be seen as a kind of mantra, encouraging the listener to keep pushing forward despite setbacks.
The line about "breaking the wrist with the weight of the world" may refer to the physical toll that stress and anxiety can take on a person. The idea of "easing the pain through a few loopholes" could imply that the singer is resorting to unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with their struggles, like drinking or drugs. The sense of defeat that comes through in "like ten versus one I lose again another round" suggests that the person feels overwhelmed and outnumbered by the challenges they face.
The references to "gold armies" and "the empire rising" seem to contrast with the singer's own sense of personal decline. The fact that they "can't breathe once again" implies that this struggle is not new or unfamiliar. Despite this, the person seems to be determined to keep moving forward, with their head held high and their fists clenched. The final image of "walking the path" suggests a sense of purpose and direction, even if the journey is difficult.
