In 2012 the band won the contest "Som Para Todos", which included a concert at the Planeta Terra Festival in São Paulo and a distribution contract with Deckdisc.
According to keyboardist Chris Botarelli, the band's name does not mean anything special; it was a mere sugestion of vocalist Emily Barreto's mother that ended up pleasing the band members after they failed to reach an agreement.[2] At the same occasion, she also explained that the band don't see a problem at writing English lyrics since the public from Rio Grande do Norte (the band's home state) has been receiving it well.
In October 2012, the band released their first EP, Stereochrome, with four tracks. In may 2014, it was released their first album by Deckdisc, modeHuman, containing 15 tracks including four songs re-recorded from the EP.
In 2014, they played at the FIFA Fan Fest event in Natal, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Deadmen
Far From Alaska Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Will never ever hurt a man
Who truly faced death
Embrace, it's nothing more than waste
If lifetime is for playing my friend
Get better at the game
Don't pity-look me when I'm not empty handed like you
Got to pay your debt before this story fades away
'Rá dara rá', hard is brightening the past
Better lie and leave behind, tomorrow looks so clear
'Rá dara rá', if you're sorry I forgive you
Dance, we're called "The Deadmen"
No matter how deep we are
We'll see the sun again
"Deadmen" by Far From Alaska is a song that speaks of embracing life, no matter what it brings your way. The opening lines of the song reveal a profound message that whatever anyone might say cannot hurt someone who has faced death. This implies that anyone who has faced death and come out alive has a new perspective on life and is immune to the opinions of others. The references to death throughout the song paint a somewhat grim picture, but they are balanced with a message of hope and encouragement to live life fully.
The chorus of the song speaks of 'The Deadmen' who will see the sun again. The reference to 'The Deadmen' shows that the song is about people who have faced difficult situations but come out stronger on the other side. They are not defeated by the circumstances of life but instead, dance and live their lives to the fullest because they know that life is too short.
The song intertwines an upbeat melody and an encouragement to live life despite its difficulties. It encourages one to get better at the game of life and not waste time while at it. The song also alludes to accepting and forgiving past grievances and focusing on the present and the future. From the lyrics, it’s clear that the song's message is to encourage people to live fully, take risks, and embrace the future even if that future is uncertain.
