Best Of Me
Far Too Jones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To call me by my name anymore
And I don't think I'm ever gonna need
To be hanging around your door
And I know
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
And I know
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
And I don't think I wanna think about
Much of anything anymore
(When I get there,
Will you call me by my name)
Well it's the same line everytime
Now it's plain to see you
Just don't get it
And I guess you never will
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
And I know
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
I've been leaving delicate impressions why
Softly slipping something past your side
Leave me alone
I don't think you're ever gonna need
To call me by my name anymore
And I don't think I wanna be the one
You're turning on when you get bored
(Will you call me by my name)
And I don't think I'm gonna think about it
When it's plain to see no one cares
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
And I know
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
And I know
When time gets the best of me
It won't matter anymore
The lyrics to Far Too Jones's song "Best of Me" reflect the sentiments of the singer who believes that their relationship with someone else is coming to an end. They feel that they are no longer needed and want to distance themselves from the other person. The singer expresses a sense of resignation and acceptance that time will take care of everything and that their feelings won't matter anymore. They appear to be tired of constantly hoping and waiting for validation or attention from the other person.
The lyrics also show a hint of bitterness and resentment towards the other person, who the singer believes is not fully understanding them. The line "Now it's plain to see you just don't get it, I guess you never will..." highlights the frustration the singer is feeling towards the other person. The last verse seems to indicate that the singer wants to move on and forget about the other person entirely.
Overall, "Best of Me" is a song about letting go of a relationship and coming to terms with the fact that things may not always work out. The lyrics convey a sense of acceptance and resignation and perhaps suggest that it is better to accept things as they are than to hold on to false hope.
