Nie będę działał wbrew sumieniu
Nie będę swoich myśli krył
W razie czego pierwszy rzucę kamieniem
Nie będę złudzeniami żył
Nie będę czekał na zbawienie
Nie będę wiecznie w cieniu tkwił
W razie czego pierwszy rzucę kamieniem
Wolność ma dwa oblicza
Lepiej jest jej nie ograniczać
Wolność ma dwa oblicza
Łatwiej ruszyć niż
Zatrzymać
Nie zawsze bywa, co się chce
Na wszystko trzeba mieć zezwolenie
Wystarczy jednak jeden gest
I realne staje się złudzenie
Wolność ma dwa oblicza
Lepiej jest jej nie ograniczać
Wolność ma dwa oblicza
Łatwiej ruszyć niż
Zatrzymać
The lyrics to Farben Lehre's song "Credo" speak to the importance of staying true to one's beliefs and not compromising one's values, even in the face of adversity. The singer declares that they will not blindly believe in anything, nor act against their conscience, or hide their thoughts. The lyrics emphasize the importance of personal freedom, stating that it has two faces and should not be limited. The song encourages the listener to take action, rather than wait for salvation, and to be prepared to throw the first stone if necessary.
The song's call for freedom and individualism reflects the punk rock genre, which has historically embraced these values. However, the lyrics also express a more profound message about personal integrity and the importance of standing up for oneself. By declaring that they will not be deceived by illusions and will not wait for someone else to save them, the singer emphasizes the power of individual action and self-reliance.
One interesting fact about "Credo" is that it was released in 1998, during a time of political and social upheaval in Poland. The country had only recently emerged from decades of communist rule, and many young people were disillusioned with the political system. The song's message of personal freedom and independence resonated with this audience and helped to establish Farben Lehre as an important voice in the Polish punk scene.
Another interesting fact about the song is that it has been covered by several other artists, including Polish rock band Kult and French punk group Ludwig von 88. The song's popularity outside of Poland reflects its universal message about personal integrity and self-determination.
