The band released its first demo in 2001, which caught the attention of Lee Barrett and the band was quickly signed onto Elitist Records, a branch of the infamous Earache. The bands debut album A Warm Glimpse was released in the year 2003. It turned out to be a success, especially among the progressive metal circles, and Farmakon was widely noted by the metal press as a band to keep an eye out for.
Farmakon was signed onto by the Finnish FS Records after Elitist Records came crashing down. The band's second album Robin was released in early 2007. The album continues with the band's trademark twist, but also introduces a darker and more focused side of Farmakon.
In 2010 they split-up.

Farmakon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Those dream-like instants
I knew I could let go
And the time would still be
What once seemed so hard
Begins to feel so simple
And what is
To be in this
Disabled state of mind
Unable to completely indemnify
All the wrongs of the time passed
As the world
Continues to stretch
I still can recognize myself
What should I have to be afraid of?
When did I become
A potion of poison
My test in courage
Is to go through life
To earn my blood-red stains
The lyrics of Farmakon's Time-Tables suggest a sense of peace and tranquility amidst confusion and chaos. The opening lines, "Those moments of serenity, those dream-like instants, I knew I could let go and the time would still be" evoke a feeling of a calm and peaceful mind that can let go of the present and trust that time will move on. The singer then reflects on how things that used to be difficult and complicated now seem simpler, yet there is still an inability to understand everything that is going on. The lines "what once seemed so hard, begins to feel so simple, and what is, I can't comprehend" highlights the paradoxical nature of the situation. There is a sense of being stuck in a "disabled state of mind" which inhibits the ability to redress past mistakes.
The lyrics become more introspective as the singer attempts to make sense of their current situation, questioning why they feel like "a potion of poison". The lines "As the world continues to stretch, I still can recognize myself, what should I have to be afraid of?" suggest an inner conflict between what is happening externally and the self. The last two lines of the song, "My test in courage is to go through life, to earn my blood-red stains", insinuates the idea of living as a test of one's character and courage. The "blood-red stains" may represent the consequences of one's actions, which must be earned through bravery and fortitude.
