Three Days
Faron Young Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Three days I dread to see arrive
Three days I hate to be alive
Three days filled with tears and sorrow
Yesterday today and tomorrow

There are three days I know that I'll be blue
Three days that I'll always dream of you
And it does no good to wish these days would end
'Cause the same three days start over again

Three days that I dread be alive
Three days that I hate to see arrive
Three days filled with tears and sorrow
Yesterday today and tomorrow

There are three days

Three days that I dread to see arrive
Three days three days

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Faron Young's song Three Days convey the pain and grief that comes with the passing of a loved one. The repetition of the phrase "three days" emphasizes the ongoing nature of grief, with the same cycle of sadness and longing repeating itself each time. The opening lines, "Three days I dread to see arrive, three days I hate to be alive," showcase the overwhelming feeling of despair that comes with anticipating the anniversary of a loved one's passing.

The lyrics also touch on the idea of reminiscing on the past, with the lines "Three days that I'll always dream of you, and it does no good to wish these days would end." Even though the person is gone, the memories of them persist and can be painful to relive. The final lines, "Yesterday, today, and tomorrow," aptly summarize the cyclical nature of grief - it doesn't just go away after a day or two, it lasts through the past, present, and future.

Overall, Faron Young's Three Days is a poignant reminder of the ongoing pain and sorrow that can be caused by the loss of a loved one.

Not that it matters... but THIS is the album version of "Three Days". There's a different version for the single you're showing. Hank Garland plays the lead guitar on the one you've posted... Grady Martin does the guitar solo on the single version.
