Farscape (1999 – 2003) is also a science fiction television series, featuring a present-day astronaut who accidentally travels through a wormhole to a distant part of the galaxy. The series is one of a new generation of popular science fiction television shows in which the main concerns are surviving in a hostile, chaotic universe and dealing with interpersonal conflicts - instead of exploration, warfare or law enforcement. It was produced by the Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment, and filmed in Australia. Drawing on Henson's traditional expertise in puppetry, two of the main characters are animatronic puppets.
The show was abruptly cancelled after it had completed production of its fourth season, with a fifth season contracted, effectively ending the series on a cliffhanger. A mini-series in 2004 wrapped up some of the show's hanging plot threads, but a feature film remains a possibility as does an animated/anime series.

The lyrics to Farscape's song "Assassin" seem to be about a society that is full of crime and misery, where morals and justice have been abandoned. The ruins of the society are tangible, and the only creature that seems to take pleasure in this state of affairs is an assassin who is half man, half monster. The assassin seems to carry within himself a personality that is demented, and he follows a road of fury where there is only destruction and mutilation. The song seems to suggest that the assassin feels powerful because he is beyond the boundaries of society's morals.
The lyrics suggest that the society that the assassin operates within is also chaotic, and his acts of violence are condemned. However, the society seems unable to do anything about it, as there is no chance for peace to exist. The assassin seems to be driven by envy and transformed into a maniac, attacking and showing hate with ease. The final lines of the song suggest that the assassin was born to be a killer, filled with bitter insanity that will never allow him to live in peace.
