Nonstop to Nowhere
Faster Pussycat Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own

I'm on the lame train
I'm on the lame train

Well it's 5 o'clock in the mornin'
And I can't fall asleep again
Times are changin' and movin' real fast
Way too fast for me
Seems like only yesterday I was skipping school and stealing gasoline

I've been talking
I guess you call it talking a white lie
One minute I'm on top of the world and the next thing you know

I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the track you lay are your own
I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
Nonstop to nowhere

Sometimes I just sit and daydream
And I just slip away from here
If only I had a crystal ball
Or could invent a time machine
I'd go into the future take a good look around
And see what life has in store for me

I've been walking I guess you call it walking a thin line
One minute I'm on top of the world and the next thing you know

I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
It's like a chain gang
I know the exit but my problems seem to follow me wherever I go
Nonstop to nowhere

I don't believe the preachers they're just sticking out their hands
I don't believe the government and who the hell's this Uncle Sam?
Mr. Conductor will you help me off this train?
Well I believe I'm on the wrong one and it's taking me down the drain

I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
I'm on the lame train
I got a first class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
It's all carved right in stone (Nonstop to nowhere)
I guess the tracks you lay are your own

I'm on the lame train
I got a first-class ticket on the nonstop to nowhere
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
It's like a chain gang
I know the exit but my problems seem to follow me wherever I go
Nonstop to nowhere

Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
Your own
The tracks you lay are your own
Where it takes me I don't know
I guess the tracks you lay are your own
Your own
The tracks you lay are your own

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Faster Pussycat's "Nonstop to Nowhere" depict a sense of feeling lost in life and going nowhere fast. The singer expresses feeling as though they are on a "lame train" with no clear direction or destination. They are unsure of where their life is headed and are struggling to find purpose. The line "I guess the tracks you lay are your own" suggests that the choices we make in life ultimately shape our paths and determine where we end up.

The singer is stuck in a cycle of feeling lost and uncertain. They mention past experiences, such as skipping school and stealing gasoline, indicating a sense of nostalgia for simpler times. The line "Times are changin' and movin' real fast, way too fast for me" suggests that the singer is struggling to keep up with the pace of life around them. They daydream about having a crystal ball or time machine to see what the future holds, highlighting a desire for clarity and direction.

The song also touches on a sense of disillusionment with authority figures, such as preachers and the government. The line "I don't believe the preachers they're just sticking out their hands, I don't believe the government and who the hell's this Uncle Sam?" suggests a lack of trust in those in power. The singer is looking for someone to help them off the "lame train," but the lyrics suggest that they ultimately must take responsibility for their own choices.

Life on the strip back then would have been epic

Dive into Faster Pussycat and you quickly realize this is clearly the most underrated rock band of all time. Hit after hit after hit after hit …. the shear number of amazing singles is staggering.

@Dman9fp

Them & W.a.s.p. for sure. People saying they are trash have too rigid expectations or something, idk

@n7bansheebait299

I was crazy about Faster Pussycat back in high school. Unfortunately, I was alone (story of my life). Nobody else got into them. Same with Hanoi Rocks, Black n Blue, House Of Lords, LA Guns, Lillian Axe....the list goes on.
