Fat Freddy's Drop Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Good things take time to do, now,
so I'ma take my time with you.
Down here when we make it over.
The road is long, it makes you stronger.
Life is such a mystery, still wonder who I might see.
Steamy windows, rainy days, the best has yet to come my way.
Heat, feel so good to me.
Can't get enough of them bones babe, bones baby, baby.
Heat it up baby
Heat it up baby
Heat it up baby
Take me over the cloudy rains.
The world of peaceful borders, babe.
The road is long, the nights are dark.
Get a little closer every day.
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Get them bones in the water, uh,
leave them all day
Like it was only yesterday,
I remember all the things you told me.
Don't take what you got for granted, give some to receive.
I made a, weak won for whiskey bottle,
still keepin my powder dry, still got no alibi,
some things that you've done for me.
Paid for who I am, it's hard work that makes the man.
Keepin on, you know I can
Keepin on, you know I can
Keepin on, you know I can
Keepin on, you know I can
You know I'm
You know I'm
You know I'm
You know I'm
not gonna let this thing bring me down.
It's cold outside but there's a woman in your arms.
Not gonna let this thing bring me down, no.
Won't bring me down
Won't bring me down
You won't bring me down.
Oh, no baby, you won't bring me down
Oh, no baby, you won't bring me down
Oh, no baby, you won't bring me down
The lyrics in Fat Freddy's Drop's song Bones seem to be about taking the time to appreciate the beauty in life and not letting anything bring you down. The repeated line "get them bones in the water, leave them all day" could symbolize the idea of letting go of worries and problems, and just letting them go with the flow. The lines "good things take time to do, so I'ma take my time with you." and "life is such a mystery, still wonder who I might see." express the idea of taking it slow, enjoying the journey, and being open to new experiences.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of hard work and perseverance through tough times. "Keepin' on, you know I can" and "not gonna let this thing bring me down" show a determination to overcome obstacles and not let them take control. The line "I remember all the things you told me, don't take what you got for granted, give some to receive," could also suggest the importance of gratitude and being willing to give back in order to receive more from life.
Overall, the lyrics in Bones emphasize positivity and a willingness to take life as it comes and make the most of it.

I like fat Freddy's drop. Obviously, so do you. But I wanted to give you a little insight. You indicated that this was the best band ever. Apparently you don't get out here a lot of musical or have ever heard a lot of world class musicians play.
There's nothing that stands out about the musically to me. They don't have a bass player, or a drummer. Which makes them part of a band. The rhythm section is the most important part of the band and if your programming the music then you're not playing it. I live in America and I've had the opportunity to see some of the best musicians you'll ever hear in your lifetime.
That includes popular and non-popular musicians. You can step into any black church and listen to the musicians and they are off the chain. Versatile, with a lot of chops.
I'm partially to drummers and bass players. Perhaps from the band is able to incorporate a live drummer and live bass player it will certainly give them a different sound. But you can't call them a great van if they don't have a live rhythm section.
Just something to think about. I like their music and I enjoy when they perform. I just wouldn't consider them a great band not any stretch of imagination. Peace and blessings!

This is, by far, one of the most soulful songs Iβve heard by Fat Freddy yet. Canβt stop listening to it. Each and every one of them are such gifted musicians. Really wish they would do a tour here in the United States.
