Fat Freddy's Drop Lyrics

Do I try to work it out?
Well you're the part of my memories
That I never wanna live without
So long I've been gone
So many things have changed
But I know where I belong and
Oh
I know when I reach that place
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I see the rain come down while the sun is shining
I see them dance into the night
I see the rain come down while the sun is shining
Stand at the base of your mountain high
Dance into the night
This can't keep rockin' your life (x6)
This can't keep rockin' your life
Ooh yeah
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin' your life
Yeah
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin' your life
Yeah
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin' your life
I keep on telling you
This can't keep rockin'...
Fire
Starts in my heart when I reach that place
Home again where I belong
Fire
Starts in my heart when I reach that place
Have I been away too long?
Fire
Starts in my heart when I reach that place
Home again where I belong
Fire
Starts in my heart when I reach that place
Have I been away too long?
Have I been away too long?
The lyrics of Fat Freddy's Drop's song Cay's Crays revolve around the idea of home, belonging and questioning oneself. The singer seems to be torn between conflicting emotions: on the one hand, he is hesitant about questioning his loyalty and trying to work things out with someone who is integral to his memories and the essence of who he is. On the other hand, he is certain about where he truly belongs and his desire to return home. The imagery used throughout the song is powerful and compelling - the rain that comes down while the sun is shining, people dancing at night, and the mountain high. This imagery represents the singer's inner turmoil and his desire for clarity, for things to be clear and the rain to stop.
The chorus of the song is a clear message to someone who is causing the singer pain or discomfort - this can't keep rockin' your life. The singer seems to be urging whoever it is to change, to get out of their current situation and find a better path. The repetition of this phrase highlights the singer's frustration and his desire for change.
In the final verses, the song takes on a more optimistic tone. The singer talks of the fire that starts in his heart when he reaches that place, referring to his return home. He wonders if he has been away too long and expresses his desire to return home again where he belongs. The song ends on an unresolved note, leaving the listener to wonder whether the singer will make it back home or whether he will continue to be torn between conflicting emotions and desires.
