Your booty move, your booty move

It's so easy to get acid, you can get it anywhere.

If you don't make your booty move, your booty must be dead

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Fatboy Slim's song "Acid 8000" are simple and straightforward. The song starts off with the line "Your booty move, your booty move," which is a direct reference to dancing. The following line "It's so easy to get acid, you can get it anywhere" refers to the drug acid or LSD, which was popular in the rave scene during the 1990s when the song was released. The lyrics suggest that the use of acid can enhance the dancing experience and create a euphoric feeling.

The final line "If you don't make your booty move, your booty must be dead" is a call to action, encouraging people to dance and move their bodies to the music. The song is essentially an upbeat and catchy dance track that celebrates the rave culture and the use of acid in that scene.

This was the last track on the album and I just bought it during my summer break in 1998, just preparing for the high school. My older friend was into acid techno and he was absolutely mesmerised by this track. So many memories.

Aaaah man... this was my 'going home after school' soundtrack in the late '90s. I remember playing it on my portable cd player. During the build up just before the beat kicks in, I would slowly go down in sprint starting position (no matter where I was in that moment). When the beat kicks in, I would start running like crazy, looking straight ahead with purposeful "I'm on an important mission" eyes, swerving among the crowd in the city center and all... till I finally got, all sweaty, breathless and red-faced, to the door of my house.
That was in Bologna, Italy, long time ago.
Goddamn what I wouldn't give to be there right now.
