I Want To Walk You Home
Fats Domino Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I want to walk you home
Please let me walk you home
I wants to walk you home
Please let me walk you home
You look so good to me, oh-ooh-ee
I wish I was the lucky guy who could walk you right on down the aisle

I love the way you walk
I love to hear you talk
I love the way you walk
I love to hear you talk
I'm not tryin' to be smart, I'm not tryin' to break your heart
But if I ask you for a date, will you tell me that I'm not too late

I want to hold your hand
Please let me hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
Please let me hold your hand
You look so good to me, oo-ooee

I saw you walking all alone, that's why I want to walk you home

So let me walk you home
Please let me walk you home
I want to walk you home
Please let me walk you home
You look so good to me, oh-ooh-ee
I saw you walking all alone, that's why I want to walk you home

That's why I want to walk you home, that's why I want to walk you home
That's why I want to walk you home

Either Fats or Mahalia will be playing at my funeral and with any luck, both of them, along with Elvis's How Great Thou Art. I saw footage of Elvis telling Fats that both he and Fats knew that Fats was the real King of Rock and Roll! Fats was the first musician my father, Murray Godwin, ever introduced me to and Dad's profound love and respect for Mahalia has me, today, asking God to please let me sing with her, them in Heaven when He's done with me. Both parents loved them and bought me my own Elvis album when I was 8 years old.The first time I heard Fats singing this as a adult with adult children desperately lost the 'Only good I AM' told me Fat's I want to Walk you Home was to be my rallying cry to lead them Home to His Kingdom! Love the ever living, ever loving Lord of Light, the Son, Jesus of Nazareth!
