Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've done got over, yes I've done got over at last
I'm a natural born lover since I got rid of all my trav'lin
Yes I've done got over at last.
No more crying, no more sighing, no more walking the floor over you
No more crying, no more signing, no more walking the floor over you
Yes I've done got over at last.
In Fats Domino's song "Natural Born Lover," the singer sings about finally moving on from a past love and becoming a "natural born lover" again. The repetition of "I've done got over, yes I've done got over at last" emphasizes the relief and freedom the singer feels from no longer being "trav'lin" and pining over their ex-lover.
The lines "No more crying, no more sighing, no more walking the floor over you" suggest that the singer's past relationship was a tumultuous and emotional one, filled with heartbreak and longing. However, now that they have moved on, the singer is declaring their renewed love for life and for themselves. By becoming a "natural born lover," the singer has reclaimed their passion and energy that was once lost while holding onto their past relationship.

Without a doubt my favorite Rock legend. Had the extreme pleasure of meeting him back in the 60's when he came to Memorial Hall in my hometown of Dayton. Loved everything he released from the Fat Man in the early 50's to his appearance in Austin on Austin City Limits. Truly one of the nicest artists ever. Always had a smile for his fans. He would play anything that you asked. R.I.P. Mr. Domino. Meeting this legend was a highlight of my life. Truly one of a kind...
