In the late 1990s she was part of a highly-regarded duo with Damien Barber. In 2001 she helped form The Witches Of Elswick, a female acapella quartet. After this she performanced with her partner Jon Boden. Her debut solo CD, entitled "Looking Glass", was released in 2010.
In 2009, Hield joined a concert line-up with Robert Harbron (English Acoustic Collective) and Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead). This led to her performing and recording as Fay Hield & The Hurricane Party.

@Alan Cayn - I saw Fay Hield at Sidmouth years ago - she was heavily pregnant which did not interfere with what was a brilliant performance: her performance of Yellow Roses was outstanding - and sher sand a song about two brothers and a ball game (she seems to find songs no one else does!!)
If you haven't already discovered her - Emily Portman - her album The Glamoury is one of the best folk albums I have ever heard!!
