Invisible wounds
Fear Factory (Hatefiles) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dark bodies floating in darkness
No sign of light ever given
Imprisoned in a world without a memory
Unconscious, or am I conscious?
Cut from the heart I am part of
Sometimes I feel as though I'm frozen in heaven

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness (loneliness)
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven

In dreams I see myself flying
Closer to the sun and I'm climbing
Tried to touch the sun
But the brightness burned my eyes

Unconscious, or am I conscious?
Fell from the sky like a star
Sometimes I feel as though I'm frozen in heaven

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness (loneliness)
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness (loneliness)
And I saw my own face like a spark

Dark, dark, dark
My life was so dark
Dark, dark, dark
My mind was so dark

Dark, dark, dark
My life was so dark
Dark, dark, dark
Everything was

Unconscious or am I conscious?
Fell from the sky like a star
Sometimes I feel as though I'm frozen in heaven

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness (loneliness)
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness
And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness

And I saw my own face like a spark frozen in heaven
Dark bodies floating in darkness

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Fear Factory (Hatefiles)'s song "Invisible Wounds" paint a picture of a world without hope or memory. The singer is imprisoned in this dark, isolated space and questions whether they are even conscious. They feel cut off from their own heart and sometimes frozen in heaven. The lyrics also describe dreams of flying closer to the sun, but being burned by its brightness. The repetition of the phrase "And I saw my own face in the dark and loneliness" emphasizes the singer's loneliness and isolation. The song ends with the haunting image of dark bodies floating in darkness.

Overall, "Invisible Wounds" is a powerful exploration of isolation and mental anguish. The lyrics suggest that the singer may be struggling with depression or some other form of mental illness, and that they feel disconnected from the world around them. The repetition of certain phrases, such as "dark bodies floating in darkness," adds to the eerie, otherworldly feel of the song.

This song is timeless. It captures that one specific vibe or feeling.

Where you are living your daily lives fighting fires here and there. Be it problems, work stuff, love stuff, mental or depression stuff, loneliness etc..

At certain times, You step right at the edge almost falling and failing. Then suddenly a light appears and helps you out or you manage to make it work. And you continue living and try to be happy and find meaning in life.

And vice versa.

This song gives me that feel.

The song hits home.
