She made me cry she done me wrong
She held my eyes wide open that's no lie
But the tables are turning, now it's her turn to cry
'Cause I used to love her
But it's all over now
'Cause I used to love her
Well she used to run around with every man in town
Spent all my money on her happy schemes
She put me out it was a pity how I cried
Tables are turning, now it's her turn to cry
I used to wake up in the morning get my breakfast in bed
When I've gotten worried she could ease my aching head
But now she's here and there with every man in town
Still trying to take me for the same old clown
In Feargal Sharkey's song "It's All Over Now," he is singing about an ex-lover who he used to adore but has now realized she was unfaithful to him. He reminisces about the times when he would wake up to breakfast in bed, and she would ease his aching head, but now she is running around with every man in town, spending all his money on her schemes. He opens up the first verse by revealing how this ex used to stay out all night long, and even though it made him cry and hurt him, he still loved her. However, the tables have turned now, and he is expressing how it's her turn to cry. It seems Feargal is finally getting over her after a long and painful period of dealing with her infidelities, and he is happy to be moving on.
In the second verse, Feargal Sharkey highlights how she used to "run around with every man in town," and he'd have to watch as she spent all his money on her happiness without any regard for his feelings. He explains how hurt he was when she put him out, but now the tables are turning, and it's finally her turn to feel the pain he felt. Feargal Sharkey reiterates how he used to love her but that it's all over now, signifying the end of their relationship.
Overall, "It's All Over Now" is a song that many can relate to, as almost everyone has experienced heartbreak at some point in their lives. Feargal Sharkey's lyrics carry a sense of nostalgia, pain, and emotional freedom as he lets go of someone that he once loved but is now grateful to be without.
