Carry On
Feedback Revival Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Little girl tell me won't you come back home
I'm gone but no further than I've been before
Is a life made of all the things that we own
Can we just burn it all and Carry On

She said lalala, she said lalala, she said lalala lets burn it all and carry on.

Tell me when technology replaced all our friends
We pretend that pictures are as real as then
Is a life living inside a life at all
I would stand but baby I'm abliged to crawl

She sang lalala, she said lalala, she said lalala lets burn it all and carry on.
She said lalala, she said lalala, she said lalala lets burn it all and carry on.

Tell me its my time if you want.
Because all ever wanted was your love
Am I too far gone that you give up
Lets burn it all baby and rise above

Tell me its my time if you want.
Because all ever wanted was your love
Am I too far gone that you give up
Lets burn it all baby and rise above

She sang lalala, she said lalala, she said lalala lets burn it all and carry on

Ohhh
Ohhh

Am I too far gone that you give up
Lets burn it all baby and rise above oh oh
You tell me its my time if you want
Because all ever wanted was your love
Am I too far gone that you give up
Lets burn it all baby and rise above

Lets burn it all baby and rise above
Lets burn it all baby and rise above

Overall Meaning

In Feedback Revival's song Carry On, the lyrics seem to touch on themes of finding one's way back home, questioning the societal norms and seeking a way to rise above it all. The song starts with a plea for the little girl to come back home, indicating that the singer has been away but has not strayed too far from where they were before. This can be interpreted as a physical or emotional journey of trying to find oneself but realizing they need to go back to where it all started to move forward.

There is a sense of rebellion against the possessions and technology that have taken over our lives, and a desire to burn it all down, and move on. The singer questions if a life made of materialistic things is worth it and suggests that we need to rise above it all. The use of la, la, la throughout the song is like a chant or a call to action, urging the listener to let go of the past and focus on moving forward.

The final lines of the chorus refer to the singer's desire for love and acceptance before they can move on. They ask if they are too far gone and if it is too late to come back, but they urge their loved one to rise above the problems and obstacles to move forward and start anew.

I love this song! I can't get it out of my head and it really suits The Dust Storm.

WinchesterGirl67

This song has been living in my head rent free for over 24hrs straight now since discovering it, & it's welcome to stay there. It has such a nostalgic vibe to it that I'm just living for. My angsty teenage self would've gone absolutely feral for this.

(& yes, I too discovered this song because of Colin O'Donoghue's gorgeous ass, & I sincerely thank him for it, because this is the sort of song that I'd play on a nonstop loop for at least a week)
