Here in the Bubble
Feeder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Keep my feet on the sand
Gotta take the hand that guides me there
As I reach, do they stare?
Do they feel the same way?

I wanna be here!
I wanna be here, I see the face
Look back and then it calls to me
Wanna stay here, here
Just wanna be free
(Wanna be free)

Could it be in my head?
As I kneel, as I turn to face, cover me
If it falls high above
It takes us all away someday

I wanna be here!
I wanna be here, I see the face
Look back and then it calls to me
Just Wanna stay here, here
Just wanna be free

Will I fell it anymore?
As a child, as I grow old
It's the only way I see
Open up, let it be

I wanna be here!
You don't know, 'cause you don't see it
I wanna be here, I see the face
Look back and then it calls to me
I feel it, so let it go

Let it go

Wanna be here
I wanna be here

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Feeder's song Here in the Bubble appear to be about the desire to stay present and connected in the moment, to not get pulled away by distractions or worries. The singer wants to keep their feet on the sand and take the hand that guides them, possibly indicating a desire for grounding and guidance in turbulent times. The line "as I reach, do they stare?" suggests the idea of feeling vulnerable or exposed, while "do they feel the same way?" maybe hints at a desire for others to also be present and engaged in the moment.

The chorus repeats the phrase "I wanna be here" several times, and the singer expresses a strong desire to stay in the present and be free from whatever may be holding them back. The line "could it be in my head?" suggests a possible hesitancy or doubt about whether their desire to stay present is real or not. However, the lyrics also explore the idea that staying present can help create a sense of connection and unity with others, as expressed in the line "it takes us all away someday."

Overall, the song seems to be about the importance of being fully present in the moment, and the desire to be free from distractions, worries, and fears in order to do so. The lyrics capture the struggle to stay connected in a world that can be unpredictable and chaotic, and the desire to find a sense of grounding and connection with others.

So calming and I think he should do some more vocals like this, sounds great. I like it in a way that they are hard to find, makes them more special :)

This for me is the true essence of Polythene era Feeder. You can really see the 'UK Pumpkins' like here, a truly amazing song. Should have been on the UK version and Waterfall shouldn't have been dropped!

@andrew turvill Purple was/ is a very special song for me & Jon! It brings our childhood memories .He wrote " the seven days in the sun" for me when he was only 12!( with one change , as long as I remember correctly, added PRADA) Then he asked me what else I wanted to hear from him to write about for me ,I answered " how about purple?"( as it was my most favorite colour at the time for a long time actually) he promised me that he would .I didn't know he really did it til very recently . I kind of have a hunch that Grant will deny it.But, the truth is the truth & GOD knows it,too.Jon will defend me if he was still here! He was not only the greatest drummer besides Buddy Rich, he was the kindest ,the warmest & the sweetest man I've ever known in my life! One of the most attractive ,adorable people you'd had gotten to meet !And hopelessly romantic in a way.I LOVED HIM.STILL DO.I'll take his love with me to my grave! He was a truly great guy! The greatest man I've ever known! I hope that people will remember him as one of the LEGENDARY drummers of all time ! As he well deserved it!
