Magnificent Obsession
Fehlfarben Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
ich war hinüber man trug mich weg
Meine Gedanken kreisten
Maint'nant tu as tout abtenu
tu m'as dérobé nuit et jour
The first verse of Fehlfarben's song "Magnificent Obsession" describes a post-party scene where the singer is being carried away, possibly in a state of disorientation or intoxication. His thoughts are fixated on unasked questions about a past relationship, which he can no longer speak positively about. The second verse, in French, seems to suggest that the singer's former partner has taken everything from him, day and night, and that he fought long and hard for love as if he were a partisan. The third verse reflects on what has been lost and how the past cannot be repeated. Moreover, the singer observes that what was has been destroyed by indifference. Despite everything, the singer sees that they and their ex-partner are both happy now.
The song's lyrics touch on themes of regret, loss, and the inability to recapture past experiences. The lyrics suggest that the singer is struggling to move on from a past relationship and is grappling with the concept of closure. The French lyrics interrupt the narrative flow, and their meaning is not immediately clear. Still, they add an air of intrigue, suggesting that the singer's despair is not limited to a specific time or place. In contrast, the final verse hints at a sort of closure for the singer, who has accepted that what was is no more and is capable of finding happiness in the present.

Mein absolutes Lieblingslied von Fehlfarben. Nie wieder haben sie dieses Level erreicht. Die Masse hat´s leider ignoriert. Trotzdem: ein Meisterwerk!

Hallo.
