My uncle Bob was playing alto sax on this track. I used to look out the window in my granddad's house in Lagos and watch from upstairs the view while I vibed to this tune blaring out of the radio. This sound brought Ginger Baker pronto to Lagos in the '70's to learn the afro beat rhythm from the master...

I danced to Fela's Afro Beat live at Apollo theater. I was a young 23 year old. Fela was and remain one of the best original African musician in my opinion.. His creativity was exceptional. I can dance to afro beat allllllllll night!!

My fav Fela track....had this one at the age of 15. ..banging it loud. I used to sing it to my sisters and they thought I lost my mind. However, on the original LP...that sax solo was loud... modern technology truncating the hell out it...I guess. Im just glad its here for all to hear his genius

This particular number reminds me of those days n years in Lagos, still in d primary school when it rented d air waves n d snr boys swung to its rhythm at parties n where ever they found necessary for them to. One of his classics of d early 70s. I also recall dat we had 2 beg one snr brother 2 take us all d way from down town Surulere 2 Kakadu Night club@Alago Meji, Ebute Meta,trecking a distance of nearly 5 km 2 see him live, we were unlucky as he was tour n were only able 2 view his pixs on d.

I heard about Fela when I was 17 I guess. By the occasion, I couldn't even imagine if Fela Kuti was a brand, a medicine or a guy. Internet was different in these times.

I'm 31 right now and just discovered Fela and I'm so amazed by his music. I thought what I have missed in those 14 years. But I was a kind of stupid young boy. I guess I couldn't understand how awesome Fela was. Now my eyes are open and so are my ears and heart.

I had a dream that I was part of Fela's Africa 70 crew. I was the happiest I'd ever been. When the Nigerian government got me down I'd go for a long distance run and smoke some herb and it was all good. But alas Fela is gone, but not forgotten, he shall live on in my dreams:)

Man I remember this track and this album. I was 17 years old, living in Trinidad. Wherever you went, back in the day it was called Blocko, every weekend there would be Blockos in different areas. Wherever you went this album would be killing it, long groovy, funky Afro beats. Live on Fela, thanks for the memories.
