What I love about Barenboim is his thoughtful personalization. He takes such time on the sforzando in measure two and in similar positions throughout, plays the forte spinning interludes with pedal while the soft contrasts as light and dry; he strangely accents the left-hand's Bs at 26'' and 28'' for seemingly no reason. It's not necessarily indicated in the score, but I for one like it! I wouldn't imitate everything he does, but I admire this performance as a uniquely inspired rendition.
