"The Fanatic" by Felony is a song about an obsessive fan who loves movies, rock shows, and anything related to pop culture. The lyrics describe how much the fanatic adores rock stars, radios, TV guides, magazines, tapes, and videos. The fanatic is a limo chaser who never misses an opportunity to get an autograph, poster, or photograph. The lyrics also mention the fanatic's fondness for cigarettes, alcohol, and dirty movies, which turn him on. In essence, the song is a celebration of fandom and the intense emotions that it can elicit.
The song's lyrics are catchy and repetitive, meant to evoke a sense of manic excitement. The use of the word "I" throughout the song reinforces the fanatic's self-centeredness and singular focus on his pop culture interests. The mention of cigarettes, alcohol, and dirty movies suggests that the fanatic might be more of an outsider or rebel figure, drawn to the taboo and the edgy. The lyrics also poke fun at the self-important and cringeworthy behavior that fans sometimes exhibit when they meet their idols.
Overall, "The Fanatic" is a fun, light-hearted song that celebrates the joy and intensity of being a fan. It captures the thrill of meeting your heroes and the insatiable desire to consume every aspect of pop culture.

God I loved this movie and the soundtrack. I was born and raised in the Valley but wasn't living there in 1983. The songs made me feel like I was still there. I have a total of 12 45's of songs used in the movie, many I had searched for years to find and then internet came.
