After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz devoted themselves to their now defunct side project Sing the Body Electric, while vocalist/guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis formed the band Denver Harbor.
In September 2005, Fenix TX announced their reunion. They released a live album, Purple Reign in Blood, and supported it with tours across the United States and Japan.

But I want to say much more every day gets worse
Can't take this we made this
Been a long time running out of patience
Watch those evil words
Don't slow down don't go down
You should learn how to take it to the last round
Think of circumstance
Everyone's opinions matter more than your words of wisdom
Give it one more chance
Now you know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical and now you know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical and it's all yours
It's not fair you don't care
Sometimes I wish we never made it here
Don't mean what you say
Use your voice make some noise
It's on the table
So you better make the right choice
Can't have it your way now you know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical now
You know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical and it's all yours now you know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical and now you know this is your life
And it's so beautiful but pitiful
It's typical and it's all yours
The lyrics to Fenix TX's "Beating A Dead Horse" are a linear story about a relationship that is falling apart. The singer is frustrated with the other person's inability to communicate and be honest about their feelings. He wants to express himself more clearly and openly but feels held back by their lack of effort in the relationship. The singer is tired of waiting around for the other person to make a change and grow up.
The chorus is a strong message to the other person that this is their life and they need to start taking control of it. The singer acknowledges that it's not always easy, and even admits that it's "beautiful but pitiful and typical," but reminds the other person that it's their life and their responsibility to make it better. The song ends with the singer expressing his desire for the other person to use their voice and make some noise, which seems to imply that he recognizes that communication is key in any relationship.
Overall, "Beating A Dead Horse" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of complacency and lack of communication in a relationship. It's a reminder to be proactive and take responsibility for your life, instead of waiting for someone else to do it for you.
