After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz devoted themselves to their now defunct side project Sing the Body Electric, while vocalist/guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis formed the band Denver Harbor.
In September 2005, Fenix TX announced their reunion. They released a live album, Purple Reign in Blood, and supported it with tours across the United States and Japan.

At least inside my mind yeah
But no words that you say could ever make me wanna change
Forgive me not when it comes to this crime
I met her before you she wore the sweetest perfume
Her scent reminds me of our first date
I still taste our last kiss
Her name still falls from my lips
Hey hey I shouldn't speak her name
But she's always on my mind
Hey hey I wouldn't make you change
So don't expect me to try every fault every flaw
Your picture's still on my wall
There's not a thing about you that I would change
Say goodnight say goodbye I'll think of you when I'm high
I know someday you'll be doing the same
Hey hey I shouldn't speak her name but she's always on my mind
Hey hey I wouldn't make you change so don't expect me to try
Hey hey I shouldn't speak her name but she's always on my mind
Hey hey I wouldn't make you change
So don't expect me to try
Hey hey hey hey hey hey don't expect me to try
The lyrics of Fenix TX's 'Katie W.' are about a man who is struggling to let go of his past relationship and move on with his current partner. The lines, "The nightmares the bad dreams have become reality, at least inside my mind yeah" indicate that he is haunted by memories and thoughts of his ex-lover. He confesses that no matter what his current partner says, he still can't forget about his past love, as stated in the lines, "But no words that you say could ever make me wanna change, forgive me not when it comes to this crime."
The singer reminisces about his past relationship, as he describes how he met his ex-girlfriend before he met his current partner. He still remembers the sweet scent of her perfume, which reminds him of their first date, while also remembering their last kiss, and her name is still on his lips. He compares his past love to an "old flame," indicating that the passion and desire he felt for her still remain, even though the relationship has ended. He admits that he shouldn't speak her name, but she is always on his mind, and he wouldn't try to make his current partner change.
The song is about the difficult process of letting go of your past, and how it can affect your current relationship. It is a relatable topic and resonates with anyone who has gone through a break-up or is struggling to move on from a past love.
