After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz devoted themselves to their now defunct side project Sing the Body Electric, while vocalist/guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis formed the band Denver Harbor.
In September 2005, Fenix TX announced their reunion. They released a live album, Purple Reign in Blood, and supported it with tours across the United States and Japan.

And I heard someone say that if I Was cool I'd be surfing
That's when I decided I wasn't gonna be some punk kid
Gettin sand kicked in his face and losin all the chicks
I wish that I was cool I wish I was surfing
Making beach babes drool, I wish I was surfing
And every single day I would be surfing
I wish that I was cool I wish that I was surfing
I mean I've already seen "Point break" and if Keanu can do it then I can too
The Fenix TX song, "Surf Song," is a classic pop-punk jam that tells the story of a young man who becomes interested in surfing, seeing it as a way to escape the labels and judgments of his peers. At the beach one day, he overhears someone say that if he were a surfer, he'd be considered cool, and the idea takes hold in his mind. He wants to shed his "punk kid" persona, get in shape, and impress the beach babes as he rides the waves. He fantasizes about a life where all he has to do is surf every day.
Throughout the song, the singer's desire to surf becomes a metaphor for his larger desire to reject the roles that society has forced upon him. He's tired of being a "punk kid" and losing out to other guys who are tougher or more athletic. Surfing, in his mind, represents a challenge that he can conquer, something that will make him cool, desirable, and unassailable.
The song captures the universal feeling of wanting to fit in, to impress others, and to escape from our own identities, even if just for a little while. It's a timeless, upbeat pop-punk gem that speaks to anyone who's ever dreamed of a better life or a different version of themselves.
