Fer Casillas began her musical career six years ago with the folk duet Las Delailas, a project with which she performed in venues such as the Auditorio Nacional, La Arena Monterrey, El Auditorio Banamex and at the international festival SXSW 2015 and 2016 in Austin, Texas. Las Delailas were also part of Kinky's USA Tour in 2015.
In early 2017, Fer Casillas and Priscilla Orfanos decided to go their separate ways and focus on their solo projects. Their solo adventure began in 2016 when they decided to embark on a journey with their first EP Strangers, produced by Pablo González Sarre, bassist and member of Los Claxons.
Her first material contains two singles. The first is called Without You and the second All I Needed. Both tell the story of the end of a relationship, but the songs manage to keep the rhythm of classic R&B.

Y hoy me toca a mí, seguir
Soñar que en tu caminar
Tengo que cuidar
Cada paso que das
Y en tu sombra estar
Color que dejaste atrás
Y sé que te encontraré
Para así cuidar
Cada paso que das
Y en tu sombra estar
Y en tu sombra estar
Y en tu sombra estar
The lyrics of Fer Casillas's "Olga" express a deep emotional connection between the singer and a person named Olga. The opening lines, "Tu voz la sembraste en mí, y hoy me toca a mí, seguir," suggest that Olga’s voice has had a profound impact on the singer, planting seeds of influence and emotion within them. The act of 'seeding' her voice indicates how her presence has inspired the singer to carry forward the essence of what she represents. There’s a sense of responsibility implied in “hoy me toca a mí, seguir,” which translates to "today it’s my turn to continue." This portrays a transition where the singer feels the need to honor Olga's memory or legacy by continuing to embody her spirit.
As the lyrics progress to “Soñar que en tu caminar tengo que cuidar,” the dreamy quality of the lines suggests the singer's desire to protect and nurture the path Olga has left behind. Dreams often symbolize aspirations, and here it conveys the hope of being part of Olga’s journey, even if it's indirectly. The singer asserts, “cada paso que das,” meaning “every step you take,” indicating a commitment to safeguarding her journey, showcasing deep admiration and a sense of guardianship. The repetition of "y en tu sombra estar" emphasizes a theme of protection and presence. To be in someone’s shadow symbolizes a desire to remain close and to support them, elevating the emotional weight of their bond.
The imagery of “Color que dejaste atrás / Tu olor siempre quedara” represents the lasting impact and memories of Olga. The word "color" evokes a sense of vibrancy and life that she has contributed to the singer's world, while "tu olor siempre quedara" highlights an intimate connection—rooted in sensory memories. It conveys that though Olga may no longer be physically present, her essence continues to linger in the air, a fragrance that evokes nostalgia and intimacy. This interplay between memory and sensory experiences signifies how profoundly she has colored the singer’s life, affirming that the imprint she leaves is both vivid and enduring.
Ultimately, the chorus's repetition of “y en tu sombra estar” reinforces the theme of unwavering devotion and loyalty that permeates the piece. The singer appears to find solace in their dedication to Olga, signifying that their relationship transcends mere presence; it embodies a commitment to live with her memory and spirit. This reiteration also suggests a cyclical nature of influence and care—while Olga has imparted a legacy, the singer embraces their role in safeguarding it. The song encapsulates a profound narrative about loss, memory, and the enduring bond between individuals, where the legacy of love and influence continues to guide and inspire the living.
