His first steps as a songwriter's given in 1986 when he began composing his first songs and interpret them in the "El Sapo Cancionero", a bar located north of Mexico City. In 1989, along with Gonzalo Ceja, Juan Gonzalez, Rodrigo Solis and Eder SEIMUS Form (Society of Urban Underground Writers and Musicians), a group of singers who are dedicated to recording his own songs each. In 1990 SEIMUS members begin to record several homemade albums begin to distribute at concerts. Delgadillo would record two of these tapes home, "Cure" and another named "La Canción Informal".
In 1997, Delgadillo was invited to China to participate in the "International Festival of Television of Beijing." After the festival some of his songs were translated into Chinese. Later in June, he was invited to the "International Youth Festival" with headquarters in Havana, Cuba.
The following year, 1998 for the presentation of his album "Among pair and drifts" was first presented at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City. Also that year, Silvio Rodriguez invited him to play in his second concert at the Auditorio Nacional.

In Fernando Delgadillo's song "En tu cumpleaños", the singer describes how, on the occasion of the person's birthday, he would give them everything he has and is. He lists a variety of material items, such as flowers, different looks, kisses, a yellow pearl necklace, movie tickets, and a Rolling Stones album. He also includes more unique items, such as a carbón that will turn into a diamond in less than a thousand years or a shark's tooth, as well as intangible items, including twenty love poems and a discordant song. The singer even offers his childhood and all his happiness, as well as his hands full of caresses wrapped as a gift, his birth certificate signed over to the recipient's name, and time to think about it all.
However, as the singer continues, he admits that the timing won't work out, as if he knew the recipient wouldn't arrive in time. Despite this, the singer reiterates his desire to give everything to them and to "come up with something" even if he doesn't know what. The song invokes a bittersweet tone - the singer's willingness to give everything to another person is touching, but their absence suggests a painful longing.
