"A native of simple and acoustic sounds, attached to the legacy of Cash and with shades of Iron & Wine or BRMC. He sometime "manages to be intimate, sometimes even autobiographical and project images that take us back to road trips with tangled hair by the wind, or guide us through our rooms in a sunny afternoon." Piedra angular
Fernando Milagros Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(Intermedio musical)
The lyrics of Piedra angular by Fernando Milagros convey a sense of introspection and a questioning of one's place in the world. The opening line "Cuando esconder el aliento" (when holding my breath) suggests a moment of reflection and awareness of oneself. The following line, "todo aquí es mío y tuyo lo sé" (everything here is mine and yours I know), suggests a realization that everything in life is shared and interconnected, and that one's actions have an impact on others.
The reference to being born from dust and mud, "Nací del polvo y el barro," highlights the human condition and our roots in nature. The following line, "en la huella de un sabueso viejo que no supo mirar atrás" (in the footsteps of an old bloodhound who didn't know how to look back), implies a sense of following a path or legacy, but also questioning its value or relevance. The reference to frost over the city and turning back to look, "Heladas sobre la ciudad, me hicieron mirar, atrás," suggests a moment of nostalgia or regret.
The chorus repeats the question "Cuantas vueltas mas nos tendremos que dar?" (How many more turns must we take?), emphasizing the idea of a journey, repetition, and perhaps a feeling of being stuck or lost. The reference to ghosts of the neighborhood, "Fantasmas de barrio," and a floating rock or cornerstone that arrives in the singer's hands, "llega a mis manos la piedra angular," adds a mystical and symbolic element to the song.
Overall, Piedra angular is a poetic reflection on the human condition, our place in the world, and the cyclical nature of life.
