Come
Fernando Ortega Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy
Weak and wounded, sick and sore
Jesus ready, stands to save you
Full of pity, love and power
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
Oh, there are ten thousand charms
Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome
God's free bounty glorify
True belief and true repentance
Every grace that brings you nigh
Come, ye weary, heavy-laden
Lost and ruined by the fall
If you tarry 'til you're better
You will never come at all
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
Oh, there are ten thousand charms
Feel Him prostrate in the garden
On the ground your Maker lies
On the bloody tree, behold him
Sinner, will this not suffice?
Lo, the incarnate God ascended
Pleads the merit of his blood
Venture on him, venture wholly
Let no other trust intrude
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
In the arms of my dear Savior

In the arms of my dear Savior
Oh, there are ten thousand charms

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Come In" by Fernando Ortega tell the story of a tranquil night rudely interrupted by the presence of a coyote on the prowl. The scene is set at midnight, in a backyard, where a dog's barking and the neighbor's kitchen blinds being shut give an indication that something is amiss. Against a moonlit rise, Joe-Jack sleeps outside on a makeshift bed, while Epi and Lou have their fun on slippery grass. The innocent night takes a sudden turn as a coyote walks down the road, sniffing for prey. The impending danger causes Epi and Lou to freeze and not move, while the coyote throws back his head and howls, heightening the night's heat, sending critters scurrying to safety, while some will not make it home.

The lyrics are strikingly evocative and tell a vivid story that transports the listener to the backyard. The use of imagery and symbolism and portray natural sounds of barking and howling create a sense of danger that cuts through the peaceful lull of the night. The lyrics are also infused with an element of sadness, as the singer seeks to come inside before it is too late, offering a sense of vulnerability and helplessness, which tugs the listener's heartstrings.

Hi K A,
When our little 10 years old boy went to be with the Lord.
I couldn’t hear any music.
We stopped watching regular tv, the tv commercial’s bothers us too much.
Even Christian music was hurtful.
The only music / hums we could listen to was from Fernando Ortega.
Somehow, it soothed our grieving souls.
It has been now almost 3 years. Joshua went to be with the Lord on Christmas’ day on 2019😔.
Praying and Hoping for our Lord’s return this year!

Listen to these other modern Biblical spiritual connections:
Seven Swans
All the tries on the field will clap their hands
To be alone with you
The Transfiguration
The Seer's Tower
The Greatest Gift

I love the singer so much. He really is unique in it that he focuses on those who don't speak. Making albums on Illinois Michigan and the saddened soul of Royal Robertson.

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
  Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
  Wand’ring from the face of God;
He, to save my soul from danger,
  Interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
  Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace, Lord, like a fetter,
Bind my wand’ring heart to Thee.
Teach me, Lord, some rapturous measure,
Meet for me Thy grace to prove,
While I sing the countless treasure
  Of my God’s unchanging love.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it;
Prone to leave the God I love:
Take my heart, oh, take and seal it
  With Thy Spirit from above.
Rescued thus from sin and danger,
  Purchased by the Savior’s blood,
May I walk on earth a stranger,
As a son and heir of God.

When I lost my husband, listening to the music of Fernando Ortega, whether old hymns or his original songs, brought me peace and I could sense the Holy Spirit, the Comforter as Christ called Him. It was the only thing that seemed to soothe my grieving soul. I got no actual sleep those many nights. But I could at least rest, be at peace, which was so welcome. To any who grieve or suffer, Our God is a very present help in time of trouble. He will not forsake us in our weaknesses. But He also suffered. So He is able to have compassion on us. He now intercedes for us at the Father's right hand. Love and blessings of faith to all who read this. Behold He is coiming soon!
