No Vuelvas
Fernando Valades Lyrics

Letra y música de Fernando Valadés Lejarza

No vuelvas,
Dijiste ayer que me querías,
Por un capricho de tus labios
Perdiste mi cariño cierto.

¡No vuelvas!,
Fue fácil para ti el decirlo
Y, aunque me mate tu recuerdo,
Primero que tu amor, mi orgullo.

Quizás mañana
Yo implore tu cariño,
Tal vez, vencido,
Me lleve a ti mi corazón.

Pero, ya ves, mi amor,
Las cosas de la vida,

Y, aunque te quiera más que ayer,
Todavía, hoy, no vuelvas.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Fernando Valades's song "No Vuelvas" describe a situation in which the singer's lover left him due to a whim or fancy of her lips, despite telling him just the day before that she loved him. The chorus repeats the phrase "No vuelvas" (Don't come back), which the singer states was easy for her to say. Although he still loves her, his pride prevents him from taking her back immediately. The song ends with the singer acknowledging that maybe someday he will beg for her love, but for the time being, he can't take her back.

The song paints a picture of a person who has been hurt by their lover's fickle behavior. Even though the singer loves the person who left him, he cannot allow himself to be hurt again. He is willing to suffer the pain of the memories that she left behind, but his pride prevents him from taking her back immediately. Although he acknowledges that he might eventually give in and ask for her love again, for the moment, he doesn't want her to come back.

Overall, "No Vuelvas" is a ballad that speaks to the pain that can come from a broken heart. The lyrics are simple, but the meaning behind them is quite deep. The singer is trying to reconcile his love for his former lover with the pain that her actions caused him. Ultimately, he decides that he cannot take her back immediately but leaves the door open for a future reconciliation.

No vuelvas,
Don't come back,

Dijiste ayer que me querías,
You said yesterday that you loved me,

Por un capricho de tus labios
But because of a whim of your lips

Perdiste mi cariño cierto.
You lost my true affection.

¡No vuelvas!,
Don't come back!

Fue fácil para ti el decirlo
It was easy for you to say it

Y, aunque me mate tu recuerdo,
And although your memory kills me,

Primero que tu amor, mi orgullo.
My pride comes first before your love.

Quizás mañana
Perhaps tomorrow

Yo implore tu cariño,
I will beg for your affection

Tal vez, vencido,
Maybe, defeated,

Me lleve a ti mi corazón.
My heart will bring me to you.

Pero, ya ves, mi amor,
But you see, my love,

Las cosas de la vida,
The things in life,

Y, aunque te quiera más que ayer,
And although I love you more than yesterday,

Todavía, hoy, no vuelvas.
Still, today, don't come back.
