Down On Love
Ferry Corsten Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But passion is better.
And cold hard cash can't save a sinner's soul.
Springtime in Paris.
Is reckless and careless
But life is more than just a fashion show
And somewhere in the distance
A boy I had forgotten 'till tonight
You give me reason to live
You give me all of what is
You make it hard to deny
That I'm falling down on love
Down on love
You lose it you find it
Like a wristwatch you wind it
You got so absent minded
That you almost lose yourself
And somewhere in the distance
Is a voice I recognize.
A boy I had forgotten 'till tonight
You give me reason to live
You give me all of what is
You make it hard to deny
That I'm falling down on love
Down on love
And somewhere in te distance
Is a voice I recognize.
A boy I had forgotten 'till tonight
You give me reason to live
You give me all of what is
You make it hard to deny
That I'm falling down on love
Down on love
Down on love.
Down on love
The lyrics of Ferry Corsten's song "Down On Love" present a contemplation on the things that matter most in life. The opening lines, "Diamonds are forever. But passion is better. And cold hard cash can't save a sinner's soul," suggest a prioritization of emotions and spiritual fulfillment over superficial material possessions. The following line, "Springtime in Paris. Is reckless and careless. But life is more than just a fashion show," reinforces this idea by pointing out that life is not just about appearances or temporary experiences of pleasure, but about living meaningfully and with purpose.
The song then takes a personal turn as the singer hears a voice in the distance that they recognize, a boy they had forgotten but who now gives them a reason to live and makes it hard for them to deny their feelings of love. The repeated refrain, "You give me reason to live. You give me all of what is. You make it hard to deny that I'm falling down on love," demonstrates the overwhelming power of love to change a person's outlook on life and their priorities.
Overall, "Down On Love" is a song about finding meaning and purpose in life through the recognition of what really matters, and how love can play a profound role in this process.
