Back for More
Fever Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I'm gone, dead and gone
When I'm through, I'm coming back for you

I won't leave you baby, ain't nobody gonna do you harm
Hold me closer darling, cause by the morning I'll be gone
But I'm coming back for you, coming back for you

When the moon is high, in the dead of night
Like a king snake crawling, baby I'm calling

Overall Meaning

These lyrics in Fever's "Back For More" depict a sense of dedication from the singer towards their loved one. The first stanza starts with the confession of the singer's death which could imply the sense of being physically apart from the loved one. The lyrics of "I won't leave you baby, ain't nobody gonna do you harm" emphasizes that the singer wants the listener to feel safe, protected and to let them know that they are capable of taking care of themselves. The singer also puts in effort to reside emotionally close to the loved one even though they are physically distant. The last line "But I'm coming back for you, coming back for you" shows that the singer intends to return to their loved one, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep them close.

In the second stanza, there is a vivid depiction of how the singer feels towards their loved one. With the lines "When the moon is high, in the dead of night, Like a king snake crawling, baby I'm calling," the use of metaphor suggests that their longing is intense, forceful and is not something to be taken lightly. The phrase "Like a king snake crawling" could suggest that the singer wants their loved one to feel the full force of their attraction. The line "baby I'm calling" could be interpreted as a sign of desperation, where the singer wants their loved one to hear their call of love.

Mom used to say..."A fever is your friend. Don't get rid of it, let it do it's job" 😊

I thought I knew about health. Then I read book The Real Health Secrets book, and now I realize I had no clue. It’s wild how much we aren’t told.

We raised our kids this way. When I explain this to new parents, they don’t seem to understand. I’ve tried to explain how it works as well—that in the middle of the night it will be at its highest, so they should not panic, but stay the course. I’ve explained that its job is to kill the virus, and that if they keep lowering the fever, the sickness will be with them longer. Letting a fever go will mean a shorter bout of illness. Also, it keeps the sick kid in bed where they can rest—instead of running around the house, acting like they’re not sick—because the fever has been lowered enough so they don’t feel sick.

Unfortunately, no one outside my family seems to listen.

A low fever, yes, but high fevers need attention. My son had a temperature of 106F once, and had I left it alone, he'd have died.

@loriatherton6739

Same thing here when my son had a fever of over 104F, I was reprimanded by the ER staff for letting the fever get so high!

@JudyCoughlin-v6h

Two of my children had seizures if their temperatures went over 102!
