Dreijer was born on 7 April 1975 in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1994, they formed the indie rock band Honey Is Cool, where they served as the lead vocalist and guitarist. Together with their brother Olof Dreijer, they formed an electronic music duo The Knife in 1999, and have spanned a series of successful and critically acclaimed albums.
What would you do if one decade into your career you suddenly saw one of your songs turned into a worldwide hit, won six Grammis in your native Sweden and your latest release was declared album of the year by one of the world’s most influential music websites? If you’re Karin Dreijer, the answer is to take a couple of years off and return as a solo artist under a new name: Fever Ray.
In Dreijer's's own words: “I had so many songs to record that I just had to make an album. I thought I was going to have a longer break but I guess it will never happen. I can't stop working. My aim was to finish the album and, now that it's done, I'm a bit restless (good that The Knife has an opera to write then). During the last years, I discovered that I like to sing too, so I hope that my newly found live band Fever Ray will make it to the stages next year. We are rehearsing and building something beautiful and brilliant."
Mustn't Hurry
Fever Ray Lyrics

Something more but don't you worry
Need some time but mustn't hurry
Saw the blood but it's not scary
Need a song but mustn't hurry
Something more but don't you worry
Need some time but mustn't hurry
Babies pushing boundaries
Babies pushing boundaries
Drove out in the morning
Weary
Shame this moment's soon gone
Shame this moment's soon gone
I really need
A beast to feed
Licking my fingers
Got the last crumb
My curiosity
Found a cavity
And something to stick in
Create a family
With my babies
A little family
With my babies
A little family
And something to stick in
Create a family
With my babies
A little family
With my babies
A little family
And something to stick in
In "Mustn't Hurry," Fever Ray sings about the pressure to find something more in life but not wanting to rush the process. The lyrics repeat the phrase "need someone but mustn't hurry" and "something more but don't you worry," emphasizing the feeling of being torn between urgency and patience. The imagery in the song also adds to the sense of conflict, with lines such as "saw the blood but it's not scary" and "babies pushing boundaries" creating both fear and wonder.
The chorus of "need a song but mustn't hurry" could be interpreted as a desire for inspiration and creativity but not wanting to force it. The line "shame this moment's soon gone" reinforces the idea of wanting to savor the present and not take things for granted.
The second half of the song introduces the idea of creating a family, with the lyrics "create a family with my babies" repeated multiple times. This could be seen as a longing for connection and stability but also acknowledging the responsibility and commitment that comes with it.
Overall, "Mustn't Hurry" is a contemplative and introspective song that deals with the conflicting emotions of wanting more but not wanting to rush it.
