Maginot Line
Few and Far Between Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Traveling into the next hundred years, or so
Without a saftey net
I want it to be
Everything at once, like a hurricane
Destroy without refrain
I need it to be
I know what youre marching over
I know where you're pointed towards
You give yourself away
Its all related
Cut me in
Count me out
It's the wrong way

No way, it can't be
No way they've breached your line

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Maginot Line speak to the idea of living without a safety net, of throwing caution to the wind, of wanting it all, and being willing to destroy everything in one's path to get it. The marching metaphor hints at a battle, a rebellion or a struggle with something bigger than oneself. The lines "cut me in, count me out, it's the wrong way" suggest a sense of confusion or uncertainty, of not knowing which side to take, of not being sure if one wants to be part of the action or not. The final line, "no way, it can't be, no way they've breached your line" seems to reject the idea that any challenge could overcome the singer's defenses or fortitude.
