Let's get a few things straight
Well I don't say it often
But it's keeping me up
Keeping me up, keeping me up i took a photo
And you got the wrong idea
Well I don't really follow
When you just play pretend
And say it's your birthday
To keep me from leaving early
Oh, can you just go with it
But I won't go with it, yeah
Why you gotta, gotta be
So deep in the philosophy?
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
So why you gotta, gotta be
So bad for you and wrong for me?
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
Living it in the moment
Just living it in the moment
We always zone out i'm on another page
And the voices in your head
Well they're keeping you up
Keeping you up, keeping you up
And for a minute i'm slamming on the brakes
But do you ever get it?
'Cause you get desperate when
You pretend it's your birthday
To keep me from leaving early
Won't you please stop saying
That you think you've found the one, mmm
I'm trying to keep it simple
'Cause I'm seeing other people
Won't you please stop saying it
Just please stop saying it, yeah
Why you gotta, gotta be
So deep in the philosophy?
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
So why you gotta, gotta be
So bad for you and wrong for me?
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
Living it in the moment
Just living it in the moment
Well I was in love and now I'm not
I gave it up for a moment
And maybe you do have a point
And surface level in the moment
So why you gotta, gotta be
So deep in the philosophy
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
So why you gotta, gotta be
So bad for you and wrong for me
When I'm living it in the moment
I just wanna be in the moment
Living it in the moment
Just living it in the moment
Living it in the moment
Just living it in the moment
The lyrics to "The Moment" by Fickle Friends tackle the theme of living in the present and embracing the moment rather than overthinking and analyzing every aspect of life. The song begins by addressing a problem and suggesting that they need to clear some things up, emphasizing that it's something that's been bothering them and keeping them awake at night. The singer feels misunderstood, as indicated by the line "I took a photo, and you got the wrong idea," implying a miscommunication or misinterpretation of their actions or feelings.
The chorus highlights the singer's desire to live in the moment and not get caught up in deep philosophical thinking. They express the desire to just embrace the present and be in the moment, rather than overanalyzing every decision or relationship. There seems to be a conflict between the singer and someone else, possibly a partner, who is fixated on complicated thoughts and actions that are not conducive to their desired way of living.
The second verse delves deeper into this conflict, portraying the disconnect between the singer and the other person. The singer mentions zoning out and being on a different page, while the other person's voices in their head keep them awake. The singer expresses frustration and a need for simplicity, trying to keep things uncomplicated while also exploring other relationships. The bridge acknowledges a change in the singer's perspective, realizing that they may have given up love for a fleeting moment. However, they still affirm their commitment to living in the moment and being true to themselves.
Overall, "The Moment" encourages listeners to focus on living in the present, embracing simplicity, and being true to themselves rather than getting caught up in complex thoughts and actions.

We got a problem
There is an issue or disagreement between us
Let's get a few things straight
Let's clarify certain points
Well I don't say it often
I don't express this frequently
But it's keeping me up
But it's causing me to worry or lose sleep
Keeping me up, keeping me up i took a photo
Causing me to stay awake, I captured a moment
And you got the wrong idea
And you misunderstood my intention
Well I don't really follow
I don't really understand or agree with
When you just play pretend
When you act like something that is not true
And say it's your birthday
And claim it's your birthday
To keep me from leaving early
In order to prevent me from leaving prematurely
Oh, can you just go with it
Oh, can you just accept or believe it
But I won't go with it, yeah
But I won't agree or believe it
Why you gotta, gotta be
Why do you have to, have to be
So deep in the philosophy?
So immersed in complex theories or ideas?
When I'm living it in the moment
When I am fully experiencing the present
I just wanna be in the moment
I just want to fully embrace the present
So why you gotta, gotta be
So why do you have to, have to be
So bad for you and wrong for me?
So harmful for you and incompatible with me?
Living it in the moment
Fully experiencing the present
Just living it in the moment
Simply embracing the present
We always zone out i'm on another page
We often become distracted and disconnected, I'm focused on something else
And the voices in your head
And the thoughts or ideas in your mind
Well they're keeping you up
They are causing you to worry or lose sleep
And for a minute i'm slamming on the brakes
And for a moment, I am abruptly stopping or reconsidering
But do you ever get it?
But do you ever understand or comprehend it?
'Cause you get desperate when
As you become anxious or worried when
You pretend it's your birthday
You pretend that it is your birthday
To keep me from leaving early
In order to prevent me from leaving prematurely
Won't you please stop saying
Please stop repeatedly stating
That you think you've found the one, mmm
That you believe you have found your perfect match
I'm trying to keep it simple
I'm attempting to keep things uncomplicated
'Cause I'm seeing other people
Because I am dating other individuals
Won't you please stop saying it
Please cease repeatedly stating it
Just please stop saying it, yeah
Simply refrain from continually mentioning it
Well I was in love and now I'm not
Well, I was previously in love but now I am not
I gave it up for a moment
I momentarily gave up on love
And maybe you do have a point
And perhaps you are correct or have a valid argument
And surface level in the moment
And superficially, only for the present time
So why you gotta, gotta be
So why do you have to, have to be
So deep in the philosophy
So immersed in complex theories or ideas
When I'm living it in the moment
When I am fully experiencing the present
I just wanna be in the moment
I just want to fully embrace the present
Living it in the moment
Fully experiencing the present
Just living it in the moment
Simply embracing the present
