Heaven
Fiction Factory Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heaven is closer now today
The sound is in my ears
I can't believe the things you say
They echo what I fear

Twisting the bones until they snap
I scream but no one knows
You say I'm familiar, cold to touch
And then you turn and go

Feels like Heaven
Feels like Heaven

See how we planned for saddened eyes
And tears to pave the way
I fought the fever as I knew
My hair returned to gray

Study your face and fade the frame
Too close for comfort now
We can recall the harmony
That lingered but turned sour

Feels like Heaven
Feels like Heaven

You wanted all I had to give
See me, I feel, see me, I live, oh whoa

Feels like Heaven (Heaven is closer, Heaven is closer)
Feels like Heaven (Heaven is closer, Heaven is closer)
Feels like Heaven (Heaven is closer, Heaven is closer)

Feels like Heaven (Heaven is closer, Heaven is closer)
Feels like Heaven (Heaven is closer, Heaven is closer)

Overall Meaning

The song "Feels Like Heaven" by Fiction Factory features lyrics that express the feeling of being close to heaven, while also acknowledging fear and apprehension. The opening lines suggest that the feeling of heaven is more accessible now than before, and that the sound of it is present and tangible. However, the following line indicates that the message of heaven is also tied to fear, uncertainty, and doubt. The concept of snapping bones may be a metaphor for the intensity of the emotions being experienced.

The next verse seems to be a reflection on the past, and the sadness and tears that were anticipated, but may not have come to fruition. The singer describes fighting off a fever and returning to gray hair, possibly indicating a sense of aging or feeling worn down. The lyrics also suggest a sense of familiarity with a person, but that this familiarity is uncomfortable and unnerving. The final chorus repeats the feeling of heaven being closer, which may be interpreted as a spiritual or emotional state.

Overall, the lyrics of "Feels Like Heaven" convey a sense of longing and confusion, with the idea of heaven representing a type of escape or release from these emotions. The use of metaphors and vivid imagery adds depth to the lyrics, and the repetition of the chorus gives the song a memorable and emotional quality.

That is so true !
Even though I'm more of a 60's and 70's man - I must admit that for POP music this was a golden era.
I've never bought as many 45 singles as I did during the 80's and well into the 90's.
Every week I bought from 2 or 3 to 4, 5 or 6 singles - and one hit after another just kept pouring out.
And there were so many talented Artists and Bands that were struggling to reach the highest positions on the charts.

But then, around 2000 it all suddenly died out.
These days, perhaps I hear one POP song per month that has something similar to what was being cranked out every week during the 80's.

"Rolling In the Deep" was a good one - and it gave me a flashback back to the 80's when I heard it -
but it's really hard for me to think of any other really good ones from the last 2 decades.
There are still some good music being made - but they are not what you can call POP songs.

A timeless classic that will never die. We were so lucky growing up in the 80's.

80' rock. I loved that era being born in 1966. Got to grow up in 2 brilliant decades of the 1970's and 1980's. Transport me back. One of the most good things of this generation is being able to watch stuff like this on YouTube!!!!❤
