Plumb was nominated for the 2012 Mercury Prize.
After the release of Tones of Town, the group announced a break, leading to solo releases by the brothers (David's "Sea From Shore" under the name School of Language, and Peter's album as The Week That Was, both 2008), before reconvening in 2009. Both brothers have continued releasing music outside of the band: School of Language now has 3 albums and an EP, while Peter has worked with contemporaries Paul Smith of Maxïmo Park (Frozen By Sight), as well as Sarah Hayes of Admiral Fallow (You Tell Me). In 2022, the Brewis brothers created their own record label (Daylight Saving Records) which will host what they refer to as "extra-curricular activities;" i.e., new releases from side projects and other related groups (such as Slug).
All Field Music albums were self-produced at the band's studio space in Sunderland.
Other musicians who have played in the group in some form include Andrew Moore, Tom English, Kevin Dosdale, Ian Black, Damo Waters, Andrew Lowther, Peter Gofton, Mark Simms, Emma Fisk, Peter Richardson, Liz Corney and Pauline Brandon.
See You Later
Field Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Who's listening?
And I will see you later?
....see you later
............later
The lyrics to Field Music's "See You Later" seem deceptively simple at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they reveal a great deal about the human condition. The opening line, "And after all, who's listening?" suggests a sense of futility or insignificance in the face of the wider world. It's a common feeling for many people, especially in the age of social media where we can feel like we're shouting into an empty void.
The phrase "And I will see you later" is repeated several times throughout the song, and while it's easy to interpret it as a simple farewell to someone, it takes on a deeper meaning in the context of the first line. The repetition of the phrase suggests a cycle or pattern of meeting and parting, of beginnings and endings. It could be seen as a kind of comfort in the face of the uncertainty and impermanence of life.
Overall, the song's lyrics seem to be grappling with the idea of human connection and the ways in which we make sense of the world around us. It's a thoughtful and introspective piece that encourages listeners to consider their own place in the world and the meaning that they derive from their relationships with others.

Saw these dudes rocking out at the cluny a few weeks back had a word with one of the band after the gig behind the black curtain and explained a few home truths to him The potential of this band is phenomanal and its great to see a thinking band which can carve ponderous melodies without turning into a dairylea string thing

they still are producing, as "the week that was" and "school of language"...they "split" field music so that they could produce more music and release more! both peter and david play in each of the bands and change instruments etc.. P.S. you have to laugh at the way peter can never keep a straight face in vids, the mans a genius!
