Judging by their debut full-length L.A. Kids, they have undoubtedly carved a distinct niche for themselves in the crowded Southern California music scene. Equal parts insightful lyrics, crafted pop hooks, and propulsive energy - Fight From Above manages to combine many disparate influences while still sounding cohesive, and yet also not quite like anything you've heard. Some elements suggest comparisons to bands like The Kooks, Phoenix, and Hot Hot Heat, while others suggest Death Cab For Cutie, The Shins or Modest Mouse.
Songs like "Between The Curves" (which is currently getting consistent play on influential L.A. rock station KROQ and was featured on MTV's "The Hills") and "Raindrops" embed themselves in your head upon the first listen, while fan-favorites like "Saticoy" and "Alexander's Bus" brim with barely contained energy and enthusiasm. Still, nothing on the record quite compares to seeing them live, where the band has developed an undeniable reputation for passionate, frenetic live shows. Their persistent dedication to their live performance has earned them a loyal following in and out of Los Angeles.
Fight from Above consists of Miner (vocals, guitar), his brother Jeremy (lead guitar), Krook (bass) and Dave (drums). The boys are currently playing shows to promote their latest release (Hermano EP). Their music has been featured on L.A's KROQ 106.7, STAR 98.7, Rock The Vote, as well as MTV's "Real World" and "The Hills".

Caught in the stream
Where you shared your skin with me
It was enough, just to be young
Falling asleep
Covered in leaves
While the sun set on the trees
Got lost on an old trail looking for you
On the banks of the river like we used to do
Water dried up years ago
Silk rope 'round my neck on the morning commute
Well I don't know if this is living or just something to do
Maybe i'm just passing time
And I grew up too fast
I just grew up too fast
I grew up too fast
I just grew up too fast
Got lost in a moment waiting for you
In a downtown bar with some thoughts to lose
Eighteen down six more to go
There's an old man slurring out pieces of truth
He said, "son you gotta move you gotta move you gotta move
Just look how life left me behind
And you'll grow up too fast
You'll grow up too fast
Cause no one tells you that
You've got to make it last
Back when we were young
When the world had just begun
Back when we were young
We still had a little love
Back when when we were young
Yeah back when we were (young)
Back when we were
But we grew up too fast
We just grew up too fast
Cause no one told us that
You gotta make it last
The song "Green" by Fight From Above is a melancholic reflection on youth, time, and growing up too fast. The first two stanzas describe a peaceful moment in nature, when the singer and someone else, presumably a romantic partner, shared a moment together by a creek. They fell asleep covered in leaves, enjoying the simple pleasures of youth. However, the mood shifts in the next stanzas as the singer recalls getting lost while searching for this person, and feeling hopeless at work, where they wear a silk rope around their neck, perhaps as a symbol of being trapped. They lament the fact that they are unsure whether they are living or just passing time, suggesting a sense of disillusionment and lack of purpose.
The final stanzas of the song serve as a warning to the listener, urging them not to make the same mistakes and grow up too fast like the singer did. The old man in the bar serves as a cautionary tale, as he implores the singer to always keep moving and not get left behind. The song ends with the reassurance that despite everything, there was still love in the singer's youth, and that it is worth holding onto.
