2014 – Bellydancer (GodzillaMarket)
Milano and Italy, Mediterraneo and Eastern Europe, different cultures and big cities. It is where we live. The “bellydancer” is an ideal epitome of these inspirations: Middle Eastern influences, Mediterranean traditions, urbanized life, the electrified skyline of the city lights: the “bellydancer” is an expression of a tradition and at the same time an attraction of the ethnic restaurant round your block, a concept (a suggestion) that can be placed wherever at will, disconnected from the context but still having its own identity and a strong connotation: a neon sign on an exchangeable background.
In this perspective, BELLYDANCER is a genuine snapshot of our shows, in which we favor the “indiscriminate danceable aggression”: if you like solid rock guitars, marble tough rhythm section, whether you like to dance or just sit on the couch, BELLYDANCER talks about lust, lust for sex, lust for food, lust for finding yourself lost in Istanbul, lust for being hungry, an urgent declaration of our Love for The Party.

Spaghetti a colazione / pizza e mandolino
Il bel paese / è pieno di sorprese ma noi
Noi
Tifiamo tutti in coro / seduti su uno zero
Soubrette in parlamento / e sì al lavoro nero
La moda che fa i prezzi / Pompei che cade a pezzi ma noi
Tagliatella punk, mortadella punk, mozzarella punk,
Italian junk, italian junk
Cinepanettoni / e scorie radioattive
Cantiamo...

The lyrics of Figli Di Madre Ignota's song "Tagliatella Punk" paint a vivid picture of Italian society and culture, both its good and its bad. The singer contrasts the luxurious and romanticized images of Italy-- spaghettis, pizza, mandolins, and beautiful surprises-- with the harsh realities that exist beneath the surface, such as corruption in government, the exploitation of labor, environmental or economic crises, and lack of support for those in need. The chorus, consisting of a list of Italian foods with the word "punk" added to the end of each, reinforces the juxtaposition of traditional, quaint imagery with a more modern, rebellious twist.
The song also touches on the collective frustrations that many Italians feel towards their government and social systems, as well as the desire for change and the hope that things will improve. The line "fine della festa e testa nella sabbia" (end of the party and head in the sand) suggests a feeling of disillusionment or defeat, yet the singer urges listeners to not give up and to use their voices to speak out against the issues they see around them.
Some possible interpretations of the song's message could be a critique of the superficiality or idealization of Italian culture, a commentary on the country's political and social issues, or a call to action to confront and challenge the issues at hand.
