The band was among the first acts of a renewed wave of shoegazing music, harkening back to the late-1980s and early 1990s heyday of that genre. Although My Bloody Valentine is the most well-known of the shoegazers, Film School tends to hew more closely to the less stridently noisy bands from the original scene--bands such as Slowdive and Blind Mr. Jones. When Film School ups the tempo, their cascading guitars and background harmonies of "ooh" and "aah"--washed-out spins on classic mid-60s pop--they can also sound like Ride, another prominent band in the original shoegazing scene.
Film School today are now based in Los Angeles. Current members are: Greg Bertens, Dave Dupuis, Lorelei Plotczyk, Jason Ruck, James Smith . Previous members have included Nyles Lannon, Justin LaBo, Donny Newenhouse.

You still take from me, something
We can run there together
We can go down together
We can run there together
We can go down together
I'm still looking for a sign
Could we leave this all behind?
On the phone to make it right
I'm still looking for a sign
Could we leave this all behind?
We can run there together
We can go down together
We can run there together
We can go down together
If we run there together
Will we go down together?
We can run there together
We can go down together
We can run there together
We can go down together
If we run there together
Will we go down together?
"Go Down Together" by Film School is a song that presents the essence of a complicated and tumultuous relationship. The lyrics are filled with mixed emotions of love and loss. The opening lines, "You still do to me, something / You still take from me, something," suggest that the singer is still drawn to the person they are singing about, despite the negative aspects of the relationship.
The chorus, "We can run there together / We can go down together," presents the idea that the characters are in this together, for better or for worse. They are willing to face the consequences of their actions as long as they can do it together. The repetition of the chorus drives the message home that the singer is committed to this relationship, despite its challenges.
The bridge, "On the phone to make it right / I'm still looking for a sign / Could we leave this all behind?" showcases the internal conflict that the singer is experiencing. They want to fix things, but they are unsure if it's worth it. They are questioning whether they should leave the relationship entirely or attempt to make it work.
Overall, "Go Down Together" is a powerful song that speaks to the complexity of human relationships. It presents the idea that relationships are messy and require work, but sometimes, even when things are difficult, being together is better than going it alone.
