I mean the ORIGINAL original. The story of the making of the original final fantasy is as amazing as the games themselves. If miracles weren't real, the sequels wouldn't exist.

This music. I got this game in 2003 (after playing the first Kingdom Hearts), but always put it off until February 2010. My father had walked out of my family the previous December (2009). This game was extremely therapeutic for me. Phenomenal story, good characters, amazing soundtrack. This game, A Crack in Time, Spirit Tracks, and the Johto remakes will always have a place in my heart for getting me through dark times. I definitely need to replay this on my PS4 one day soon.

Title sequence: weirdly depressing, group around the fire, protag speaking of his story, and how this is their last chance.

Prelude: massive city, people excited for a big game, the soundtrack getting you pumped for a good time..

Then the intro sequence, as Otherworld played... that is what hooked me.

I'll never forget the first time I played this game... I was 7 years old, Tidus looked so different I thought he was some sort of monster, I desperately turned off the PS2 and only touched the game again after about a year! I didn't know English then, so I had no clue how to use items, I would get stuck on the little sinspawns, never being able to finish the Zanarkand sequence... So there I was... Stuck in Zanarkand for what it seemed like an Eternity... After a few months of back and forth on FFX, trying my best to get past the sinspawns and ultimately failing, one day I decided to simply mash the buttons to see if anything would happen... Turns out that I used a potion, it was then that the concept of using items downed on me, after that, I discovered many other things about Spira, Zanarkand and also, a lot about myself. My story with it this game is truly something wonderful... And I will always be grateful that I had such an amazing experience with this masterpiece, that I will certainly cherish for my whole life, until the very end. Like something out of a fairytale. Its funny, all those years ago it took me so long to leave Zanarkand, but I would give anything to live there in bliss forevermore .

Awww ^_^ thanks for sharing your story! For me, when I first played I only got as far as Sinspawn Gui, I couldn't get any further because I couldn't get Fira on the sphere grid, I didn't have any Ability Spheres left so I hit a wall and gave up. It wasn't until the HD re-release that I finally gave it another go, where I hit another wall with Seymour Flux. It wasn't until 2018 after playing through several other Final Fantasy games that I really went the extra mile to finish the game, and then proceeded to finish the game 3 more times that same year! So yes, I'm also a big fan of this game and have many memories with it ^_^

wait till you play, ff6 ff4 ff7 ff8 and ff9 :) i was 4 years old, watching my big brother playing them and i started around 6 as well, the pixel era with the retro pixel music behind was intensively nostalgic
