They changed their name to Finger Eleven for their breakthrough Tip, released on Mercury Records in Canada in 1997, and re-released by Wind-Up Records in the United States in 1998. The name Finger Eleven comes from an earlier version of the song Thin Spirits from the album Tip. Lead singer, Scott Anderson explains: "when everything is pushing you in one direction and your instinct drives you in another--that’s finger eleven."
A year later, drummer Rob Gommerman left the band and was replaced by Rich Beddoe. In 2000 they released The Greyest of Blue Skies. 2003's self-titled album Finger Eleven was a commercial success, spawning the single One Thing which reached #16 in the US. The band also recorded the song Slow Chemical for WWE superstar Kane and Daaam! (feat. Tha Alkaholiks) on the compilation album Loud Rocks.
Them vs. You vs. Me, was released on March 6, 2007 and contains the singles Paralyzer, Falling On, I'll Keep Your Memory Vague, and Talking To The Walls.
Their most recent album, Life Turns Electric was released on Oct 5, 2010. It featured singles Living in a Dream, Whatever Doesn't Kill Me, Stone Soul and finally Pieces Fit.

Don't Look Down
Finger Eleven Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You know it's coming back (coming back)
Just as sure as the sun burns through
Until it burns out black (burns out black)
Don't let anything faze you know
That you've found your stride
Just when everything feels OK
Don't look down
Just close your eyes and keep your head in the clouds
'Cause it's only a matter of time before you hit the ground
But until you fall you're gonna have to live this out
I wouldn't focus on the negative there's no point in that (point in that)
Nothing says you can't enjoy the ride
Even if you are off the tracks
Don't let anything bring you down
Keep on burning bright
Just when everything feels OK
Just as suddenly not quite
Don't look down
Just close your eyes and keep your head in the clouds
'Cause it's only a matter of time before you hit the ground
But until you fall you're gonna have to live this out
Don't look down
Close your eyes and keep your head in the clouds
'Cause it's only a matter of time before you hit the ground
But until you fall you're gonna have to live this out
The lyrics of Finger Eleven's "Don't Look Down" speaks of perseverance and resilience, encouraging the listener to keep their head held high and not to be discouraged by the uncertainties that may come their way. The song begins with the reality of the unpredictability of life, with lines that say, "It doesn't matter that the rain is gone, you know it's coming back. Just as sure as the sun burns through, until it burns out black" - indicating that even though brighter days may come, there will always be challenges ahead.
The chorus of the song advises against looking down - whether figuratively or literally. It says, "Just close your eyes and keep your head in the clouds, 'cause it's only a matter of time before you hit the ground. But until you fall, you're gonna have to live this out." This signifies that even when things seem to be going well, it's important to keep moving forward with a positive attitude because difficult times will inevitably come.
The song continues with positive affirmations, saying "I wouldn't focus on the negative, there's no point in that" and asks the listener to enjoy the ride regardless of whether they are on the right path or not. The song concludes with the same chorus, reiterating the importance of not giving up.
In conclusion, "Don't Look Down" is a song that encourages its listeners to remain positive and determined despite the challenges they may face, to keep their head held high, and not to be discouraged by difficulties that arise.
