Fast As You Can
Fiona Apple Lyrics

I let the beast in too soon
I don't know how to live without my hand on his throat
I fight him always and still

O darling, it's so sweet
You think you know how crazy
How crazy I am

You say you don't spook easy
You won't go
But I know
And I pray that you will

Fast as you can, baby
Run, free yourself of me
Fast as you can

I may be soft in your palm
But I'll soon grow hungry for a fight
And I will not let you win
My pretty mouth will frame the phrases
That will disprove your faith in man
So if you catch me trying to find my way into your heart
From under your skin

Fast as you can, baby
Scratch me out, free yourself
Fast as you can
Fast as you can, baby
Scratch me out, free yourself
Fast as you can

Sometimes my mind don't shake and shift
But most of the time, it does
And I get to the place where I'm begging for a lift
Or I'll drown in the wonders and the was

And I'll be your girl, if you say it's a gift
And you give me some more of your drugs
Yeah, I'll be your pet, if you just tell me it's a gift
'Cause I'm tired of whys, choking on whys
Just need a little because, because

I let the beast in and then
I even tried forgiving him, but it's too soon
So I'll fight again, again, again, again, again
And for a little while more
I'll soar the uneven wind, complain and blame the sterile land
But if you're getting any bright ideas, quiet dear
I'm blooming within

Fast as you can, baby wait watch me, I'll be out
Fast as I can, maybe late but at least about
Fast as you can leave me, let this thing run its route

Fast as you can, fast as you can
Fast as you can, fast as you can

People love to use the word “underrated” so loosely. Fiona has never been underrated, she has even won a Grammy. From what I know, her albums have all been highly acclaimed, and her current album is no exception. Just because she doesn’t get shoved into your face like Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and all the leading mainstream musicians, doesn’t make her underrated. She chose the path of art and music, not fame, that’s why her music is still very well represented and relevant. Her concerts all do really well, and that’s why she continues to make music, because she likes the response her music gets. I would hate to see her get overrated, because that would possibly mean that she wouldn’t have much say in what her music should sound like and where her career should be going, she’s in total control and I’m very happy to see where her music is going and how it continues to evolve. 🖤

@NMB yea but she was under the radar by many people and you denying the fact that she isn’t just because she only gain popularity from MTV which was only podcasted to the some few countries but mainstream mostly on the United state only , it prove your own point really wrong. This have nothing to do with likes? Getting likes doesn’t mean that people agreed with you since there’s much more like on comment agreeing that she’s underrated.

NMB

@Skyrited No, my wording was perfect. It’s unnecessary to add disclaimers to every single comment we make. If there was something wrong it, it wouldn’t get 44 likes. You’re the only one who’s confused so you’re the one who has to change.

Skyrited

@NMB You could’ve worded it a-bit more better.

NMB

@Skyrited Yes my comments only apply to countries her music was played.

Skyrited

@NMB well that’s ur country after-all so
you really can’t said much for other country whether or not she is consider underrated or well-known but I’m pretty sure she was MORE famous in the United state comparison to other country.

All her music was put out by MTV which was an America music television channel based in the United State when she first debuted her album “Tidal”

Everyone talks about the lyrics. For me it's the wondrous melodies she effortlessly wrests from strange, discordant chord progressions. It's jazzy but not jazzy. It's punk but not punk. Like all my favourite music, the melodies of this song make feel things I can't express.

Yes, very different point of view, and well said. Music captivates everyone differently and sometimes not in the most noticeable or common way, 👍 🎶

@Nickie Dyer in my opinion she is hiding herself, not showing her inner being like her last albums, but that's just a feeling
