Fire in My Eyes
Fireflight Lyrics

'Cause I have finally got my feet on the ground
Now You rescued me, You were gravity
I was upside down, down
I've got a fire in my eyes
I'm burning brighter than the sunlight
You orchestrated my escape
I feel alive for the first time
You ignite The fire in my eyes
Used to live my life
Locked up inside a room with no door before
You found a window, You broke it
And now I won't be contained anymore
Oh, I know You are
The reason I can breathe
Oh, I know You are
The reason I am free
In Fireflight's song "Fire in My Eyes," the verses describe a previously lost and downtrodden individual who finds salvation through the power of another. The lines "feeling solid/'cause I have finally got my feet on the ground/now you rescued me, you were gravity/I was upside down, down" relay this idea. The singer was once trapped in confusion, but has found a sense of stability through their savior, who acted as a grounding force. The chorus describes the newfound strength the singer has discovered as a result of this salvation. Specifically, they explain that they now have "a fire in [their] eyes" that burns "brighter than the sunlight." This "fire" represents the passion, energy, and purpose that the singer has discovered within themselves as a result of their rescue. They are now "awake" and "feel alive for the first time" as a result of this newfound confidence and sense of self-worth.
The second verse furthers this sentiment by describing the singer's past feelings of powerlessness prior to their rescue. They "used to live [their] life locked up inside a room with no door" and were unable to escape until their savior "found a window" and "broke it." This could be interpreted as the savior introducing the singer to new possibilities or ways of thinking that allowed them to break free from the constraints they once felt. The bridge reiterates the importance of the savior in the singer's life, with the phrase "oh, I know you are/the reason I can breathe" and "Oh, I know you are/the reason I am free." The savior is the foundation on which the singer's newfound freedom and vitality are built.
