“…they sound festival-sized, delivering uplifting anthems that would fit as comfortably on the radio as around the campfire” Q Magazine
“…they’ll be pillaging (in a good way) our playlists and camping out on our computers for the foreseeable future” Earmilk
Firewoodisland draw their influences from a number of sources, including artists such as Thomas Dybdahl and Bon Iver, alongside the traditional folk music of Wales and Norway. They describe their own organic sound as Celtic Viking Music.
During the sleepy autumn months of 2010, Viking descendant Stian Vedøy set sail in his longship from Haugesund, Norway, to embark on the shores of Cardiff, South Wales. New lands and legends soon inspired him to begin his journey in a solo project. With humble beginnings in Cardiff’s local club Koko Gorillaz, the music grew in popularity and sound to become a group of dedicated musicians who relish the chance to play together.
Subsequently they toured across the UK and back to Norway, releasing their debut EP ‘ILD’ earlier in 2014. In addition, the band were regional winners of Norway’s Bandwagon battle of the bands, have won Amazing Radio’s weekly Audition twice and headlined the Richer Unsigned showcase in association with Q Magazine. The band released their second EP in Autumn 2015.
Storm
Firewoodisland Lyrics

Like fire dancing with snow
It's moving wildly, whelming you
Let go, you can be in the storm
Give in, or let go
Give in, or let goIn chaos, find the eye
Let stillness reside
Breath in, you can be in the storm
Breath out, you can scream in the storm
Give in, or let go
Give in, or let go
The wilder the storm
The quicker it goes
So give in or learn to let go
Give in, or let go
Give in, or let go
Firewoodisland's "Storm" speaks to the chaos and beauty of life. The opening lines present a paradoxical image of warmth amid the coldness of a storm. The metaphor of "fire dancing with snow" suggests that there can be beauty even in the midst of destruction. The storm is a powerful and overwhelming force, but the singer advises the listener to let go and surrender to the experience.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the storm represents the tumultuous events of life. The lyrics urge the listener to find stillness amidst chaos, to breathe through it and even scream if necessary. The idea is that by fully experiencing the storm, the listener can come out the other side transformed. The repetition of "give in or let go" reminds us that we have a choice in how we respond to challenges, whether to fight against them or accept them as a part of life's journey.
Overall, "Storm" is a deeply poetic and introspective song that grapples with the meaning of human suffering. Through its vivid metaphors and emotive language, it encourages the listener to embrace the storm and find a way to thrive in the midst of it.

The effects are so pretty, I love all the little details like the lyrics being written in the journal, the glitching VHS screen, the title of the song on the cassette tape, even the music sound bars vibrating on it ahhhh it’s all too much art I can’t handle it ❤️❤️❤️

I just found these guys from a commercial playing their cover of Forever Young! And you’re spot on, all the little details are amazing. I noticed the beat on the cassette tape and then the hot coffee steam and had to read reviews to see if anyone else already mentioned it.
