Morning
Fischer Clare Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What of a morning
That brings a day so gently
And bathes the leaves
Of memories
That fell so long ago

I still recall you
In all these early hours
Though I were there
Once more to share
A love lost long ago

Crassness of youth
Concluding only half of the truth
Exuding only one small percent
Of what I surely felt for you

And then one morning
That brought a day so gently
We set apart

Things of the heart
And lost love long ago

Overall Meaning

The song "Morning" by Fischer Clare is a beautiful testament to the lingering memories of a past love. The lyrics paint a picture of a gentle morning that brings with it the memories of a lost love. The opening lines of the song, "What of a morning that brings a day so gently, and bathes the leaves of memories that fell so long ago," set the tone for the rest of the song. The gentle nature of the morning is contrasted with the weight of the memories that come flooding back.

The second verse of the song brings the focus to the singer's own memories of their lost love. "I still recall you in all these early hours, though I were there once more to share a love lost long ago." The use of the word "recall" implies a sense of distance and detachment from the memories. The singer is not actively reliving their love, but rather passively remembering it. The last two lines of the verse, "A love lost long ago," drive home the idea that the love is truly gone and can never be regained.

The final verse of the song introduces a sense of closure to the singer's memories. "And then one morning that brought a day so gently, we set apart things of the heart and lost love long ago." The use of the word "we" implies that the singer and their lost love both made a conscious decision to move on and let go of the past. While the memories may still be present, they no longer have a hold on the present.

Overall, "Morning" is a beautiful and poignant song that captures the bittersweet nature of memories and lost love.

Hubiese sido increíble que el Maestro Fisher acompañará a José José en un encuentro legendario.

Clare Fischer escribió un arreglo para José José! La canción "Aquí estoy yo"

I love this tune and I was honored to be a Clare Fisher student back in 1982. He is like no other piano teacher. I brought a small portable tape recorder to my lessons. He said to me that learn these chords the way I taught them to you and come back when you have mastered them in all keys. Well, it took me 6 months, maybe some students less than me. He wasn't in for the money like some well know piano teachers. I still practiced what he gave to me until this day and always will. The inversions of his chords are his style among other aspects. Great artist!

Hi! Clare Fisher is one of my favorite pianists and I would have loved to have the chance to study with him. His chord voicing are out of this world! If you have those chords on paper I would love to have access to them if possible and pay for them. It would be like taking a lesson. Let me know. my email address is ebourjolly@aol.com. thanks!!

MORNING is one of the greatest jazz songs I have ever heard. I never get tired of listening to it. I saw Clare Fisher perform in person many years ago at a Jazz Club in Hollywood. What a talented musician he was. There are many covers of this beautiful song, but this is by far, the best one.
