Pressure
Fishbone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fear is the curse and today's word is pressure
Too long to count the worry and the strife

Speed racer, takin' in that pressure
Pressure is the fear, pressure is the tear

Twist that torcher, torch that pressure
Burnin', verbal arm twisting, pressure ear pinching

No remorse, no glory
I sit in the jail cell and I think about that pressure
Thrive no jive, on this mess y'all
Female sittin' on my face, no lord!
Pressure me, huh but nonetheless
This pressure mess, pressure mess is the best

Pressure
Is runnin', runnin' out of time
Boy u better git your ass home quick
You shorly lie when you get high
On that pressure, pressure kick

Pressure
Pressure when I sit down!
Pressure when I git up!
When I sleep at night
Nightmares make me fight pressure

Pressure whin uhm vexed
Pressure whin I c mie x

Prayin' 4 a breather, but whenz it comin' next?

Oh this world, oh this pressure!
Pressure hardened on me there's no help yeh!
It's the pear, it's the fear, pressure!
Cheatin' out the fat man!
Pressure joke's only for the pressure folks
Fat man, livin' in a skinny land

Pressure is runnin'
Runnin' out of time
Boy u better git your asshole stitched (a fabricated cover-up)
You surely lie when you get high on this
Pressure! pressure kick!

Pressure!

When your hair's turnin' gray
Pressure tellin' you to take the gray away

Its' the fear of physical processes
It's the tear of scalp diggin' hair transplant bloodmesses

Overall Meaning

The Fishbone song "Pressure" highlights the theme of stress and anxiety in modern-day society. Fear and pressure are two recurring topics in the lyrics that depict a prevailing sense of worry and anxiety. The song is probably an ode to feeling the pressure of living in a rapidly changing world that's full of stressors. The chorus is repeating the word pressure as a way to emphasize the feelings of anxiety and pressure the singer is going through. The lyrics "Burnin', verbal arm-twisting, pressure ear pinching" paint a picture of how the external pressure sources are taking a toll on the singer.

Furthermore, the lyrics "No remorse, no glory I sit in the jail cell and I think about that pressure" represents how the feeling of pressure can drive someone to commit an unlawful act, which ultimately lands them in a difficult situation. The line "Pressure when I sleep at night, nightmares make me fight pressure" suggests that pressure can consume someone's mind and lead to difficult sleep patterns. The song's overall tone is gloomy, and the singer's experience of pressure is so intense that he seems to be out of control.

is this the best live band I ever seen, or the best live band I ever seen, what a deal.....

tommyt1971

One of the best I’ve seen too. At Lollapalooza 1993 Angelo had 4 different saxophones brought out him and they kept getting bigger size & length. He just kept putting them around his neck! And he was laughing the whole time! They’d come on right after Arrested Development and we’d been jumping around to them so by the time Fishbone was done, we were sweated out!

Martin 1973

@tommyt1971 I'm French and I saw them at l'Elysee Montmartre a well know place in Paris in 1992.. Men, they blowed me away, I was about 19 .. Smoking pot, drinking beer and have a good time.. Norwood, Angelo, Walter, Chris, Kendall and Fish was unbelievable.. Cheers from Paris
