The band's foundations are really quite self-evident: keep it honest, keep it simple, keep it rockin', and people will respond.
And people have. In just a year together, the band has gone from playing primarily small shows with friends in attendance, to playing packed clubs in major Iowa markets like The Reverb in Waterloo and the Blue Moose Tap House in Iowa City.
In March 2010, Fitzgerald showcased at the Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin, TX, during the busiest and biggest event in the business, South by Southwest.
Fitzgerald's debut album, Nothing Left But The Leaving, was cut entirely live on the floor at Catamount Recording in Cedar Falls, IA, in just 12 hours. Frontman Matthew Brewer explained the choice to make the album in such a fashion by simply stating, "That's the way all of my favorite albums were made. It's the way almost all of the greatest records in rock n roll were made. It's just the way we cut our teeth."
Fitzgerald is taking a stab at sonic experimentation with their second album. Recording at home in Maynard, rather than in a rented studio space, has freed the band up to try anything and everything they want. There is no timetable for the album's release.

Think about letting the rest of the world go fly a kite
Takin' it easy is easy as pie
And holdin' your hand is such a natural high
You sent flowers, we spent hours
We can be happy alone in a tent
Think of the money we'd save on rent
You sent flowers, we spent hours
We can be happy alone in a tent
Just think of the money we'd save on rent
If you just open your window and take a deep sigh
And holdin' your hand is such a natural high
The lyrics to Fitzgerald's song Open are all about finding happiness and simplicity in life. The first verse encourages the listener to take a deep breath and let go of the stress and chaos of the outside world. The next line, "Takin' it easy is easy as pie," emphasizes the idea that finding peace and happiness can be as simple as taking a breath and stepping back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The final line of the verse, "And holdin' your hand is such a natural high," suggests that human connection is an important part of finding contentment, and that the love and support of someone else can make even the simplest moments feel special and fulfilling.
The chorus repeats the idea that happiness can be found in simplicity, with the added suggestion that material possessions aren't necessary to achieve it. The lines "You sent flowers, we spent hours / We can be happy alone in a tent / Think of the money we'd save on rent" suggest that even the simplest pleasures can bring joy, and that a life focused on experiences and relationships rather than material goods can bring greater happiness and satisfaction.
Overall, Open celebrates the idea that happiness can be found in small moments and simple pleasures, and that the support and love of other people is essential to achieving that happiness.

If you're going to buy a new Peterbilt, this is definitely the route to go. I prefer the old trucks like the 359 in the beginning, but if I were to buy a brand new truck I would only buy a glider.
