The band originally consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Ivan Moody, rhythm guitarist Zoltan Bathory, lead guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell departed from the band in 2010, and was replaced by Chris Kael in 2011. Spencer then departed the band in 2018 due to recurring back issues, and was replaced by Charlie Engen, making rhythm guitarist Bathory the only remaining founding member of the band. In October 2020, British guitarist Andy James became the band's lead guitarist, replacing Jason Hook.

Everybody bows down
Kill em all, let em fall
God'll sort em out
Ripped up, zip it up
Really never gave a fuck
Wrecking ball, fuck em all
Never had a doubt
I'm, never gonna be the one
I'm, always gonna say what I feel
I'm, always do what I do
Sick of all the bullshit
Why should I
Always be the one to back away
Why should I
Have to be the one to not say what's on my mind
I'm a mother fuckin' wrecking ball
Take down, ground and pound
That's the resolution
Show face, disgrace
A scar of evolution
Nice boots, cheap suit
You're about to find out
Right here, right now
That's what I'm about
I'm, always gonna be the one
I'm, always gonna say the shit that
I'm, always gonna hold a grudge
Sick of all the bullshit
Why should I
Always be the one to back away
Why should I
Have to be the one to not say what's on my mind
I'm a mother fuckin' wrecking ball
Why should I
Always be the one to back away
Why should I
Have to be the one to not say what's on my mind
Why should I
Always be the one to back away
Why should I
Have to be the one to not say what's on my mind
I'm a mother fuckin' wrecking ball
The lyrics to Five Finger Death Punch's song "Wrecking Ball" are about standing up for yourself and not being afraid to speak your mind, even if it means causing chaos and destruction. The singer rejects the norms of society and refuses to conform to other people's expectations. He believes that he is a "wrecking ball" - a force of nature that cannot be stopped, and that does not care about what others think of him. The repeated phrases in the chorus ("I'm never gonna be the one," "I'm always gonna say what I feel," "I'm always gonna hold a grudge") suggest that the singer is stubborn, and will not be pushed around by anyone.
The verses contain violent images ("sliced up, shot down," "kill 'em all," "ground and pound"), which hint at the singer's anger and frustration with the world. He seems to be spoiling for a fight, and eager to take down anyone who stands in his way. The final lines of the song ("why should I always be the one to back away, have to be the one to not say what's on my mind") suggest that the singer is tired of being told what to do and say, and wants to assert his own personality and values. Overall, "Wrecking Ball" is a song about rebellion, individuality, and the desire for freedom.
